We arrived towards closing time after a long drive and the staff were super accommodating and hospitable. The food was tasty and good sized portions.

Went with my partner and we had one of the banquet meals. Food was plentiful (more than enough). We asked for spicy but in our opinion the food was a little bland and could do with some more spice particularly when they encourage you to tell them what you want. It was very busy and maybe the message did not get through to the kitchen.

About Gurkhas Brunswick

I can get what with that? With its black and white tiles and rustic brick walls, Gurkhas Brunswick’s dining room is a charming little place to get cosy and enjoy some good eats. Foodies be warned: this place gets awesome reviews and is dead set on satisfying you. Where else would Nepalese fare fit in but Brunswick’s Sydney Road, where Eastern cultures blend with the trendy Melbournian crowd? Sit among students, vegetarians and struggling artists who’ve all come in to make the most of the cheap and filling food. At Gurkhas, you’ll get a bargain guaranteed, with cheap mains and super-value banquets if you want to go all out. The chefs have recreated the experience of eating in a village of the Himalayas, with their traditional recipes and wholesome ingredients. The kitchen recommends dishes like chiple bhendi (a sauteed okra dish soaked in scrumptious spices), or the sekuwa - a marinated chicken breast and leg charcoal grilled delight. You’ll be astounded with the deliciousness and the value. And if you like it spicy, just ask! Best dish: Kachila Curry
