    We wanted to support a local restaurant. Torn between social distancing and wanting to help local businesses we ventured out on Friday night. We had been to this restaurant building in 2 previous guises. All good. But the latest incarnation is fabulous. Best French cuisine we have had outside France (and we are still scratching our heads trying to think of where in France we have had better). Maybe in Montpellier?

    Went there for date night with my 6-year old. She enjoyed all the food - steak, frites, tarte flambee, desert! I enjoyed the escargot. Such friendly and attentive service! Will definitely come back with the whole family.

    This place used to be a different restaurant called spout or something and we had not been there for long time. Yesterday we tried this new (for us) place and found it was really good. Thanks for TheFork point-redeeming program. We ordered too much for us yesterday! We became full so we could not reach to desert unfortunately. Is it ok for us to have a couple of entre dishes and some deserts next time as main dishes are very big for us??

    Birthday dinner with my wife and daughter. Escargot, oysters, and St Tropez tarte flambee for starters. Gnocchi, fish of the day, and spatchcock for mains. Crepe and creme brulee for dessert. Everything was terrific. Great food. Welcoming and attentive service. Quiet suburban bistro serving quality French cuisine. We will be back.

    Quite simply, this is the best restaurant I have been to through The Fork, and quite possibly in all of Brisbane. Genuine but extremely polished service, incredible food, and perfect decor. This is special.

    Everything far exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent - attentive without being over bearing. The food (especially the snails) was delicious. It was quiet for a Friday night but that didn’t impact the mood, being set in an old corner store - the quiet just made it feel more relaxing and homely.

    Fantastic evening at Haig Rd Bistro from the warm welcome and into all the great dishes we were served! Dare I say the pissaladiere was better than the best Italian pizzas - just saying. Wonderful duck main and we are looking forward to our next visit! Thanks again.

    Birthday Dinner Haig Rd Bistro I wanted to give my experience a 10/10 but wasn't able to because I asked for candles on my dessert but didn't get any. I was given the all time classic sparklers instead 11/10. Cote De Boeuf is an amazing piece of meat, medium rare, it was so easy to cut/slice, definitely like a hot knife through butter, excellent stuff. Crepes Suzette for Dessert, my taste buds didn't want to enjoy the grand mariner sauce to the fullest but I made sure to eat it all anyway, no complaining just eating. Spanish cheese for the Fromage Du Berger cheese platter, it was really good, enjoyed the variety of fruits that accompanied it. Arvid being the great Maître D' as always throughout the night was also kind enough to lend me an umbrella, it was still raining and was getting even heavier. I got home safely after enjoy a wonderful night. See you again friend :)

    Had a lovely time at this great restaurant last night. The food was superb and the staff were delightful. The meal sizes were very generous, and couldn't manage to fit in dessert. Would definitely recommend this fantastic restaurant.

    Outstanding service from Avid. He made my husband and I feel thoroughly welcome and I believe the other guests felt the same way! Escargots were excellent, and we loved the tarte flambee (st tropez, the one with marinated prawn cutlets and parsley and garlic oil). Spatchcock was good but not mind-blowing. Oven roasted duck was unfortunately a little overcooked and thus a bit too dry. We did feedback to Avid and he graciously thanked us for our feedback and said he would pass it on to the chef. We’d definitely come back though! My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves overall. Great ambience as well. There is a bit of a wait between appetisers/ entrees/ mains (we took about 1h 45min for our entire meal) but we didn’t mind as we were happily soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying a nice night out together! Also great to know that everything is being made fresh to order :) still highly recommended overall!

Haig Rd. Bistro is an elegant, local bistro that serves French - European classics with a contemporary & modern, yet authentic twist.

We celebrate French and Australian events, and we are open to groups for functions, private occasions and even for weddings.

We have 45+ seats but can seat up to 55 guests ( up to 80 for a standing cocktail event )

While we are a BYO restaurant ( Tuesday - Thursday / $10 per Bottle / wine only ), we are also fully licenced with a choice of new & old world wines, Australian craft beers, Native Gin tonics, House cocktails as well as a range of virgin cocktails based on impossible crafted non-alcohol spirits.
