My partner & I dined on a Tuesday night so could be considered a quiet night. The atmosphere was refreshing, my partner & I were able to make conversation without having to yell to be heard above the general noise. Service was prompt, professional & unobtrusive. The food was substantial, well prepared & presented. (Steak & lamb shank) Thankyou Hangout on 20 Preston. Recommended.

Great service, ladies were lovely. Pork belly and lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection. Tender and good seasoning/sauce to accompany.

The food, service and atmosphere was very nice. However, improvement could be made with regard to cocktails. I don't think the person behind the bar knew how to make cocktails, however he tried his best. This might of been because it was a Monday night, but it was my Birthday and I was so looking forward to a nice cocktail.

Enjoyed the tassi twist, though the big brekky was too oily.

Great value if you book with discount, otherwise the prices are a bit steep. The nachos were delicious!

With its open fireplace and intimate setting, the Hangout is a cozy hangout during the winter months. The food and beverage menus have something for everyone. Service was relaxed but efficient and the kitchen produced some tasty dishes.

First time dining there and is quite impressed with food and understandable service was a little slow due to the busy-ness of Father's Day crowd and quick turnover! Love the pasta dishes, and the delicious, delicious pavlova! Will definitely return.

Great atmosphere. A warm and cozy place. We had Father’s Day dinner here last night and loved it soon as we walked in, then went down from there. The service from the lady we had was not the best . Our drinks were served and she forgot 1 and we had to remind her twice about it. Our food was delivered but not together. We asked if our garlic bread be served first and then all the meals. She came out with our bread and 2 meals and chips leaving my husband and son watching me and my daughter eat. Their meals came out as ours were done ( awkward). My husband was ready to walk out. She didn’t come once to check how things were and we were always looking around for some service. We would of stayed longer but this put a damper on the night. It would of been good if there was a larger serving of aioi with the calamari and chips. Also a suggestion to the restaurant make sure your toilet has soap and paper there was none last night.

We have now attended Hangout on 7 occasions - 3 via Fork 30% discounts which have not been applied on two visits - hence a little wary of value etc. Normally good friendly service & tasty food.

Lovely warm fire in a 'hang out' place ... Highly attentive service ... Generous serves of green leaf salad with almost each tapas dish .....

About the restaurant

Come Hangout with the cool crowd at HangOut on 20 Preston…

If you want to catch up with friends over excellent barista coffee, have an intimate meal for two, meet up with your mates for a couple for wicked cocktails, or even enjoy a weekend breakfast, this venue can cater.

At breakfast time we love HangOut’s honey glazed bacon served with poached eggs, cherry tomatoes and Habanero sauce - it’s out of this world. During the day the tapas menu is the way to go and the spread of mains is equally appealing with everything from soft shell Singapore chilli crab to a good old Oz burger. Save room for dessert because the waffle tower with house made vanilla, chocolate and salted caramel gelato is super yummy. Here the decor is chic, the vibe is awesome and the food is super delicious - what more could you ask for?

Best dish: agnolotti - prawn and scallop agnolotti in white wine, butter and cream sauce
