Lovely little place, great food, really friendly staff.
Food drenched in mayonnaise and similar soggy substances. No distinct flavors detected. So glad it was half price at 40 bucks if I’d gone in and paid 80 I would be really angry. Not for me as it was barely above pub food standard.
Quite basic= Only one vegetarian main available. The vegetarian pasta we had was a little bit too oily and soft.
We tried this restaurant for dinner on the fork’s 50% off the food special. For starters, we have tried chicken satay skewers and prawns. While prawns were not much and I wouldn’t order them again, I must say the chicken skewers were surprisingly very tender and tasty. The portion was substantial for starters and for $14 I would definitely have them again. For mains we ordered Ribs. Oh waw, the ribs were so tender! They were absolutely amazing! I would definitely return to this place for those ribs. The french fries and slaw complimented the fish very well. The only downside was a bit too much of the bbq sauce, making the sides swimming in the sauce. That would me my suggestion for improvement, less sauce, otherwise the dish was perfect.
We were let in at 5 pm by a female staff member, who was friendly. However, the male staff member that took over with our orders was cold and did not smile nor speak in a friendly tone. Another lady who served us the food was pleasant. But the overall impression on service was generally disappointing. The food was absolutely not worth it. The calamari and cajun chicken was overcooked. The prawns in coconut had a stale coconut taste and the potato mash tasted like diluted instant potato maah. Couldnt taste the duck in the bao. Satay was overcooked and didnt taste like satay. Overall, none of the items (close to 10) items impressed. I honestly wouldnt come for food, even at half price, again.
Was expecting it to be a lot busier on a Friday night, but glad it wasn't! A fantastic restaurant, with a great ambience. We were greeted quickly and although we had reserved a table, they gave us options for an alternative if we didn't like our original one. The service was very good, out waiter was very friendly and knowledgable. The food was delicious, and came out with not too much of a wait. I can highly recommend the garlic bread with cheese! Will come here again for sure
Our dining experience at Hangout on Hay was very nice. The duck buns and the beef in cabbage cups were delicious. We enjoyed the Cajun Chicken. Only the butter chicken was toooo sweet and lacked much curry flavour. It would taste better with a bit of spice and less sugar. Service was great too.
The staff very pleasant and lovely. Some dishes were good .
Great food and great little place.
We enjoyed the duck buns and the fish tacos. The seafood platter was a bit of hit and miss since the butter prawns were very plain and lacked flavour. The service was good and the staff were friendly. Location is good too. I would recommend this cafe as a nice alternative when sipping your drinks.
Food was delicious and service was great. The ribs fell off the bone and the prawns were generous and the flavour was amazing. Definitely going back
Food was plentiful, tasty and came out quickly. The beef teriyaki cups were good with a sufficient amount of meat but it was swimming in the sauce. Wine menu was pretty good and overall we had a really good meal (we had a selection of entrees to share). Service was spot on - the lady was attentive and very pleasant. The major letdown is the atmosphere. It’s an empty cold room. It really needs warming up - more plants, soft furnishings etc. Get an interior designer in and it’ll make a big difference and make the ambience much more inviting.
Great chilled vibes, the tapas are nicely portioned and we ordered and loved the bao and tacos. Service was slow but this was because we went for dinner and the cafe is more catered to a daytime lunch crowd. Lovely cosy yet classic vibe, with the 50% discount it was awesome value!
Beautiful breaky spot out in the sun. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The zucchini and corn fritters were some of the yummiest I have ever tasted. Kids smashed the big breakfasts too. Don't know how as they were massive, but they did ????
