The staff at HG are always very responsive and hardworking. Our food arrived in good time and was delicious. However, HG had a completely packed house and only one person working the bar. He was handling drinks, the till and doing some prep work. There were only two chefs in a very large kitchen feeding a packed restaurant and only two or three waitresses. They all provided exceptional service but it's very obvious to anyone who dines with HG that there's significantly less staff than you would see at any other restaurant. Any other bar would have at least two or three people during happy hour. It's incredible that they manage to perform as well as they do, with such good humour. The button system is also very strange. It seems to show a number on a wall somewhere... but then the number goes away. The waiters have to keep an eye out for people hailing them because the button system seems fundamentally bricked.
A great little find in darling harbour! We dined here with my family, all in their 20s-30s. Fantastic cider list, delicious cuisine, great price with The Fork and awesome table service.
We did visit during happy hour but service was slow. Fun experience, unique food and drinks - enjoyed the experience.
The place was simply understaffed for the number of customers. A few dishes were cold as not enough servers. I like the place and will try again. Hopefully there will be enough staff to serve hot food.
Pretty disappointed , We booked ahead, but the seating was bad, ( facing the street and it was so bright that i need to wear sunglasses,) We ordered 5 dishes, only the egg plant was hot, all other dishes were just warm,
Good atmosphere and unique gyoza
Great location, food and service. Recommend the lemongrass chicken gyoza! The takoyaki gyoza was also not bad. Highly enjoyed my meal there. One dish I probably wouldn’t order again is the sesame dressing slaw (was just a mound of cabbage).
Food was yummy. I particularly liked the braised Gyoza. The takoyaki gyoza was a bit strange and had too much sauce. Staff were friendly, but they very busy as there were only two staff on the floor serving 15 to 20 tables.
Food offering is mediocre. While the dumpling filling are nice, the dumplings were lukewarm at best. The karaage chicken was oily and not to standard. On the upside, beer choice was great but $11/$12 is expensive for a schooner.
Sat at the booth which provided good privacy. Good food. Fast service. Kitchen was slightly ovewhelm with orders and had missed two of our dishes but it was still okay. My friends were quite happy and excited about some of the out-of-the-box (novality) food options. Biggest bonus was 50% off all the food special.
Food quality good. Service was a bit slower this time. Didn't seem like enough staff this particular night as it is normally fine.
The service was good despite the staff being so busy. Food was nice and different. I wasn’t mad about the beer, I prefer I lighter flavor. I think we will go again
The food and atmosphere was great, however the service was a bit slow. We waited for majority of our dishes to come out and we realised that the other tables got their order before we did even though they came after us. We followed up with the workers however they just said our food was coming. It was a questionable experience, however with the deal and the price we paid for, we wouldn’t complain.
The service was great. Ordered a certain beer on their special menu but was told that they run out. Partner ordered a cider beer but it has a funny aftertaste. Cheeseburger Gyoza was the best. Duck dumplings was ok. Pork belly Gyoza was average. Eggplant tempura was greasy and chicken wings lacked favour. If you like deep fried food will be ok as most food are deep fried.
Food was great but everything came out at the same time even after we asked for a break between dishes. The table was full and food started getting cold by the time we got to some dishes then they brought out the dessert when the table was still full of the main dishes.
Excellent customer service.
Great food at a reasonable price
The food selection is not that wide but the gyoza was good
This time the teriyaki chicken taste horrible. It was very nice when I ordered last time.
