Fabulous
This was our first visit to this winery. It’s so close to our beach house and quite a find. We really enjoyed our lunch and the service was friendly and attentive. We also sampled both the wine and beer tasters which is a great was to decide what to drink she/or but wine to take home. We shall visit again as the outdoor area and afternoon entertainment will be great to experience in future. Highly recommended.
What a hidden gem, it really pays to investigate and not go to just the main wineries. So relaxing and wonderful food. Staff were so obliging. Pinot Gri such a winner.
Great staff very friendly and made to feel welcome from the time we arrived till we left food delicious but the music was way too loud so had to shout at each other to have a conversation very annoying just needed to tone it down so we could all hear each other
Enjoyed our lunch at Hickinbotham. We sat inside - music was a little loud but ok. Staff, service & food were very good. Great views, would certainly recommend & look forward to dining there again.
Not sure why we couldn’t book the time we wanted as the restaurant was almost empty. The place is rundown and a blast from the past. Food very ordinary although wine by the glass was good.
Was recommended by a friend and was disappointed , food average at best and was so hot in there was uncomfortable to sit in for too long and staff not very friendly . Only good thing was the wine we had that was lovely
Food was excellent but wait staff were less than impressive. No one was friendly or welcoming. Then we had to order a drink 3 times before it arrived because no one put it through. We waited ages for anyone to serve us and no one seemed to know what they were doing. Very disappointed.
We really enjoyed our lunch with our friends at your restaurant. Our waiter was attentive, helpful and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant and we were not aware of other diners.
Great setting, excellent service, happy staff ready to serve us ,cheery, a little pricey on alcohol , great entertainment , fantastic views , will be back thanks for having us.
Great as usual Fantastic to be back. food and service and wine and beer all great as usual. We look forward to getting back again. Well done Hickinbothams
Amazing food. Loved the lamb and the burger. Plus the grape wine.
Meals could be a bit larger
So glad to be out and about on cup day, but even better to be at Hickingbothams, the food was fabulous and the staff were welcoming as usual. Great wines, great beer, great food but more importantly the best refreshing Ruby Cider
Waiting for more than 40 minutes before getting a glass of wine is out of the question.
Over priced. Menu online was different to the one in the restaurant and double the price. Waited just over 2hrs for out meals!!
The staff, service and quality of food are all great. A varied menu and drinks list complements the rustic and attractive surrounds. A cost fireplace completes the ambience.
Our meet and greet we're sensational. Friendly atmosphere. We tasted wine after ordering our food. Staff came to Inform us our lunch was ready. Everything tasted amazing. The music was great, the weather perfect, and our guest from Sydney went home very impressed. Thank you Marcia & Tony
We expected it to be better airconditioned and ventilated. Would not recommend as first choice. If its going to be advertised as a tourist spot then it needs to be more welcoming.
Food was great and so was wine. My partner had a paddle and loved it. They were very busy so service was a little slow but expected at this time of the year. Staff very friendly. Can be loud when there are lots of groups and parties but that is also expected during this festive season. All in all a great day was had by all.
The restaurant was comfortable with good service and a good atmosphere. Dishes were beautifully served and the waiters helpful. Band outside contributed to the holiday atmosphere!
Currently open 7 days a week 11.30am - 5.30pm and Saturdays only 6pm-8pm. All seatings are strictly 2 hours only.

The name Hickinbotham boasts a legacy in wine making since 1936.
Wines are grown, made and bottled onsite and more recently [2006] the Hix microbrewery was
established with brewer and 4 th generation son, Jake Hickinbotham, brewing award winning craft
beers all year round.
Our new addition- MINTARO restaurant at Hickinbotham offers a relaxed a la carte menu
showcasing the best local produce available and compliments the award winning wines and craft
beers we are known for.
The Mornington Peninsula is home to many passionate local farmers and small businesses, by
supporting local growers and artisan food producers, we are promoting the growth of local
economy, reducing land miles and offering our customers something very special.
Mintaro is a historic town in Clare Valley, Adelaide, known for producing high quality Mintaro slate,
still the oldest operating quarry in Australia.
Our fireplace is made of Mintaro slate, it was salvaged from a Victorian Brighton mansion back in
1994 and dates back to the late 1800’s.
In honour of its history we decided to name our restaurant MINTARO.
We are organic with our lifestyle, we encourage you to Escape to Hickinbotham and lose yourself in
the rustic surrounds that we call home.
