Service was very slow, took almost 2hrs for our mains to arrive. Food was okay, nothing too special. Wine was delicious, did the tasting sample which was 5 glasses, great way to try and few different wines.

Most of the dishes missed the mark for lunch. - Burger $28: the roll was very wet due to dressing on slaw; juices drained and made the napkin on which it was placed saturated -Pizza small but reported as tasty - pork crumb with the scallops very hard, unpleasant. -icecream in affogato was glutinous, not nice -choc cake looked chocolatey but very little taste of choc

Very rustic setting, but ideal inside in front of the huge fire place on a cold winters day. Looking forward to a visit where we can experience the outdoor setting

Stunning views from the restaurant across the vineyard and over the bay are afforded from the restaurant and outdoor dining area. We went in winter and there was a nice open fire and live singer, which was nice.

The service was slow from ordering a meal and when it arrived at the table. The waitresses were great and friendly.

Friendly service, good suggestions from staff. Inviting relaxed and rustic atmosphere - had a very "local" and social feel to it as the day progressed. Cosy up around the larger open fire.

About the restaurant

The name Hickinbotham boasts a legacy in wine making since 1936.

Wines are grown, made and bottled onsite and more recently [2006] the Hix microbrewery was

established with brewer and 4 th generation son, Jake Hickinbotham, brewing award winning craft

beers all year round.

Our new addition- MINTARO restaurant at Hickinbotham offers a relaxed a la carte menu

showcasing the best local produce available and compliments the award winning wines and craft

beers we are known for.

The Mornington Peninsula is home to many passionate local farmers and small businesses, by

supporting local growers and artisan food producers, we are promoting the growth of local

economy, reducing land miles and offering our customers something very special.

Mintaro is a historic town in Clare Valley, Adelaide, known for producing high quality Mintaro slate,

still the oldest operating quarry in Australia.

Our fireplace is made of Mintaro slate, it was salvaged from a Victorian Brighton mansion back in

1994 and dates back to the late 1800’s.

In honour of its history we decided to name our restaurant MINTARO.

We are organic with our lifestyle, we encourage you to Escape to Hickinbotham and lose yourself in

the rustic surrounds that we call home.
