Having travelled and booked this venue from interstate for my sister’s 60th birthday, I am happy to say it was a lovely experience. Location was easy to find, service and food excellent. Spent quality time before hand in the surrounding rose gardens. The whole time there was lovely.

The pumpkin salad we had was too much pumpkin and not enough avocado or other salad items like tomato or salad cruch. It lacked interest and seemed stodgy. May not have been made on the day, although the baby spinach was fresh, not sure if it was washed though.

A pleasant atmosphere, cater well for allergies, afternoon tea was great, service was good but have had better.

I love the restaurant because of the old fashioned atmosphere, plus it is carpeted so there is not as much noise as a lot of other restaurants - you can talk to people and they can hear. Would prefer table service rather than having to line up at the counter.

Once they had an amazing Sunday roast. It's close to standard now.

We had the high tea. The savory food was adequate (nothing fancy but edible) but the sweet food was disgusting. All tasted just of sugar and was way too sweet. The mousse was watery. The scones were way too lemony (tasted like cheap bathroom cleaner). We ordered another glass of bubbles that never came. When we arrived the waitstaff didn't acknowledge us. It was such a disappointment experience.

We had a lovely High Tea there on Sunday and was very impressed with the service staff. We were initially seated near several families and the wait staff asked if we would like to move. No fuss no big deal. We just moved to another table. The High Tea we had was mostly lovely. The sandwiches weren't really to our liking however all the other delicacies were quite delicious. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone. Check out Old Parliament House and then go have lunch at Hoi Polloi. You certainly won't regret it.

Lovely High Tea for $49. Enjoyed the glass of champagne included in package and unlimited tea and coffee. Food was excellent and there was more than enough - actually took some home. Service was efficient and friendly
