A fun evening out pre-theatre show. We ordered a paddle of beers to taste to get a feel of what we'd like to drink. No frills german food, large schnitzels and pork knuckles, a meat lovers paradise.

The whole experience was a blast. It was a great location and it was right before a show so I got to catch up with my friends. It has a beautiful view of the river a fantastic menu and even better staff. Once finished we were all quite full which was a bonus and I’ll definitely be recommending it to family and friends.

Perfect position at Southbank, lovely view across the river. Great for chatting across the table not to noisy but lots of people enjoying themselves. Only downer was we needed to call waiter for drinks services a number of times. Generally good not our first time there so already becoming a favourite for us !

About Hophaus

Willkommen one and all! Hidden on high above the Yarra River in Southbank is Hophaus, one of Melbourne’s hidden gems. This place is a quirky, modern take on a traditional German beer hall, presenting partners with a contemporary large bar and dining room, an expansive function space and a stunning first floor terrace overlooking the city. While the space is extremely modern and chic it still retains some quirky character elements that make reference to the Bavarian beer taverns of old. With over thirty draft beers on tap this is the obvious spot for a cheeky Sunday session, a ‘man date’ with your bros or an after work drink with friends. And the menu with it’s bratwurst, schnitzel, pork knuckle and selection of bar snacks is the perfect accompaniment. What more can we say? Eat. Drink. Enjoy. (Then repeat!) Best dish: Hophaus Bavarian Platter - smoked and cured meats, marinated herring sausages, warm brezel, sauerkraut & German potato salad.
