Meet the Chef
Sean Hall's love of food and cooking was born on his grandfather's cattle farm in Johannesburg, South Africa. There, he learnt the importance of looking after the animals, as well as how different beef raising and cooking techniques could impact the flavor of the meat.Restaurant menu

8/10We have been here several times now and the service and quality of the food has been consistently good. We ordered the pork ribs and a wagyu steak. The pork ribs were a generous size and full of flavor although some parts were a bit burnt so scraped those bits aside. The steak was done medium to well done and came out as requested with just slightest bit of pink but still juicy. Service was good although we had to call the waiter a few times for water and the steak we ordered with a salad but came with chips - it was quickly replaced. Apart from that the meals came quickly. Consistently great value and great service.

10/10My first visit and my friends and I were vert impresses. Loved the food. My Portuguese Chicken was great. Big serve. Our waiter, Douglas, was very friendly and attentive. All staff were helpful.

10/10Wonderful meal and plenty of it. We had the pork belly skewer, Pork ribs and chicken tacos with sides of brussel sprouts and duck fat potatoes. All were delicious. Will definitely be back.

9.5/10We had the calamari, Wagyu steak and pork belly skewers. The pork was so so good. The calamari is the best we know of. The Wagyu was a little rare for medium but was juicy. Love the chips the kind you expect crispy on the outside and soft inside. Great place for a celebration or quiet family meal.

8/10As usual, our starters and steak mains were excellent quality. However, I am upset that one of our lunch dishes was quite wrongly constructed. Specifically, the smoked pastrami reuben sandwhich. Correctly, it contained Smoked beef, Russian dressing, and sauerkraut. Quite incorrectly, it contained the awful bright orange American burger cheese, instead of the correct Swiss Cheese that Reuben's are absolutely supposed to be made with. Substituting the awful orange burger cheese instead of the correct Swiss Cheese should never be done.

7/10Overpriced food and drinks. The cheese Kransky was dry and salty. Ribs were good and should be at $42 1/2 rack. We’re pushed to leave at 8.30 pm when there were empty tables around us ….. was a tad rude.

8.5/10Hunter and Barrel specialises in steak and ribs and other meats. It is very well done and they are very accommodating with seating and other requests. All done in a very pleasant manner. We ordered a 1/2 serve of pork ribs and a New York strip loin steak. The order was taken by our waitress and she knew exactly how we wanted things. For example when I mentioned medium to well done she then asked if I wanted the steak to have any juice (blood) still coming out of the steak to confirm exactly how I wanted it. We did not have to wait long for the meals to arrive and they were piping hot. Even the chips stayed hot during the time we dined. The basting used on the meats was tasty and we ordered some sauces to dip the meats which only enhanced the flavor even more. Pricing is very reasonable for the serving size. All in all a great meal with very good service. Everything done with a smile and it made the meal very enjoyable.
