Meet the Chef

Originally from New Zealand, Peter Gunn's raw and daring approach to cooking has positioned him as one of Australia's most exciting chefs. His career has included years at renowned restaurants such as Ezard, The Royal Mail with Dan Hunter & 5 years as Sous Chef of the world-renowned Attica. Peter opened IDES in 2016, receiving one chef hat in its first year and two chefs hats in 2018. IDES degustation restaurant is a dining experience that is elegant, delicious and playful in equal measures.

We had a great time here for my husband’s birthday. Service was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Food was offbeat in the best possible way, and portions generous given the number of dishes. We did the alcoholic matchings too. Worth it.

Amazing service, great food. The staff were simply outstanding and extremely accommodating, specially because we were 40 mins late because of a delayed flight. The food sizes were just right and really yummy.

We had 4 cause tasting menu most of the items are seafood, first second and third i would like to try difference menu items. Out of four two causes are snapper.!! Snapper wings and snapper fillet.! There isnt any options to choose from.! Anyways we enjoy the dine it was my wifes birthday. Another experience. Good luck.!

Food was delicious. Staff were fantastic. But because my guests and I haven’t meet in a long time so we’re talking more than eating. I guess the staff didn’t know we haven’t finished eating and tried to clear our food. In the beginning felt abit hurried. Other than that it was brilliant! Much better than expected! Food was fantastic.
