We love the food and service at this restaurant. The chef’s take so much care in preparing and presenting the food. It’s nice watching them work. It would be great if there was a better selection of wines.

Food was good but would prefer a slightly more diverse menu

Absolutely delicious. Love that you can actually appreciate just how hard the kitchen staff work. They are non stop but never over or under cook.

Food was awesome and cheap. The entrance was a bit difficult to find and the drinks were a bit too expensive. But the food and atmosphere was great

The food was amazing and the ambience wonderful. It was just like a Yakitori experience in Japan.

Wonderful dining experience. Great to sit at the Yakatori bar and watch chefs at work.

As genuine Yakitori and whiskey lovers we were so keen to try this place and love it, but unfortunately reality didn’t live up to expectations. Booked over a month in advance, but it seemed we were placed at the most inconvenient spot in the restaurant, right near the toilet entrance (the place literally lit every time the toilet door was opened, which beside a large group was often). Apparently a table for 2 can’t book seating in the tatami seating booths which are more private, so there was only a choice of bar (yakitori or whiskey) seating when booking, this is fine however it seemed there were plenty of other couples, including walk-ins, that rules were bent for who were able to take this prime tatami seating on the night. Service was slow...very slow. There was a big group and this is where the service attention seemed to go, clear the place wasn’t prepared for such a large group. Seated at the whiskey bar and served by the bartender meant your food order was taken last behind the continual queue of drink orders that kept coming. Obviously too much pressure for a professional bartender to manage all the drink orders for the restaurant and provide personal service to individual diners - they need to fix that. Amazingly cool fit out, and yummy food, but poor service, seating for couples and lack of priority and consideration for advance booking brings it right down. Having specifically booked to enjoy the Japanese whiskey bar experience, we left feeling like this was a disadvantage against us. When you wait weeks for a special experience only to have a couple of drunks wander in and be seated beside you, it was the final straw. We left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed. Sometimes a hidden door might not be as cool as it seems.

About Iku Yakitori Bar

After our many adventures through Japan, we developed a serious addiction to the abundance of delicious Yakitori Bars scatted throughout each area. The smell, the taste and the sound of the burning chicken juices dripping onto piping hot Binchotan charcoal.... Ahhhhh... I'm hungry just thinking about it!!!
