Dosai do! You’ve met your Waterloo when it comes to Indian dining with the Hunter St-based Indian Leaf restaurant. Open for dinner seven days a week and for lunch on Wednesday to Friday and Sundays, Indian Leaf offers dine in, takeaway and delivery of its fine food. The restaurant is housed in a modern building and with sleek finishes, extensive use of glass, green accented feature walls andindoor and al fresco dining, the comfort levels are bound to please. The Indian Leaf team are very welcoming to families and you can see many a little tyke tucking into the food while ensconced in one of a number of high chairs. Buffets are also popular and the restaurant – apart from appealing to locals and families – can cater for larger groups. Specialising in Southern Indian flavours, expect the dosai to rival the chapatis favoured by their Northern Indian cousins. Dosais are a pancake-like morsel made of rice and lentil batter. At Indian Leaf expect to try them plain or with masala, cheese and onion, keema (minced meat) or prawns. Best dish: Cheese and onion dosai.
