Great food. I have been to Kobe in Sydney a few times and this is the 1st to Melbourne. Food is always good, so is the service.

And came back a third night, ordered the seafood tasting plate - amazingly presented, the number 1 special is always a show for guests (make sure you ask the staff to light up and emblaze in front of you ... for that IG moment!), the seafood salad was the go-to dish but we also ordered rice which was too much food for 2 people. If you select the right dishes, you will LOVE your meal, as we did multiple times over.

This is fine dining Japanese and not a cheap sushi joint. Comfortable chairs in the dining room as there is a teppan room on the other side. The service was super friendly and not pushy. The sashimi was thickly sliced and generous, as I have recently been to restaurants charging a similar price, where they cut the scallops in half and slice everything thinly to make it look like more food! The quality of the desserts did not match the starters and mains.

Great service from the friendly team. All food was delicious except the desserts which were not up to standard. The sashimi was thickly sliced. The spicy seafood salad was generously peppered with giant prawns, scallops and mussells.

not recommended if u have high expectation for japanese food. Oysters were very tiny, tataki was not what we expected. The quality of food does not match the price tag.

Came back the next night and ordered the recommended tasting plate, which was amazing. The seafood salad was also very nice, not hot at all. Much better food selection than the previous night.

About Kobe Jones Melbourne

‘Japanese like you’ve never had before’ – uniquely Kobe Jones, now genuinely Melbourne, right on the Yarra River with easy access by road, foot or water. Open for lunch Monday to Friday (closed for lunch on public holidays) and dinner every night. Available for functions and takeaway THE KOBE JONES PHILOSOPHY Food is a staple of life and at Kobe Jones we live by the philosophy that food should be easy to eat and always shared with friends and family. Kobe Jones’s food is designed to bring the simplicity and beauty of Japanese cooking and meld it with nuances and surprising flavours of the west. Our chefs have created an array of flavours to suit every palate–for the first timer to the most adventurous diner. We are often asked where our name comes from....well, Kobe is an ancient fishing village in Japan and Kobe beef is world famous, so Kobe was chosen as part of our name to represent the best of the Japanese food ethic epitomised by freshness and quality. Jones is a typical western name which represents the western influence and flavours in our dishes.
