It is a lovely French restaurant hiding on the first floor which makes it private but at the same time a little hiding away. The food is fair, and it varies between individuals - a bit salty for my own taste. The service was attentive but not intrusive, so is very good. The seating is close together, so really have that French feel.

Preferred the old location in Crows Nest as it had an authentic French ambience. New location was a bit cheap. Also some food was served luke warm. Service was friendly. A bit disappointed overall.

Overall an enjoyable meal. For a french cuisine, the menu is not that french, especially the desserts. Snails were over cooked, rather shrivelled. 14-hour slow roasted lamb may be better with less cooking time for while tender, it was dry. So a bit of a hit & miss for the price.

No fuss French cuisine with good portion. Enjoyable evening with full stomach. If you are looking for thrills, this is not it. If you are look for wholesome traditional Lyon style, you will be more than satisfied.

The mains are average, but the desserts are delicious especially the poached pear. Te service is very friendly and good. We had a nice evening out.

About the restaurant

French charm!

We have moved! You can now find us at LEVEL 1, 332 MILITARY ROAD, CREMORNE PLAZA, CREMORNE.

La Grillade has been an unassuming gourmet retreat for almost a quarter of a Century. Behind the vintage oak farmhouse door is a sumptuous slice of provincial France: rustic exposed beams, an earthy combination of soft reds and greys, and service staff who grace each table with personality and charm. The name ‘La Grillade’ is anything but pompous, and it encapsulates the kind of place where lively conversation flows as freely as a beautiful glass of burgundy. The menu features French classics like duck liver pate, escargot, coq au vin, creme brulee, all of which have been cooked to perfection. You can also opt for their three course set menu which is well priced at $66 per person. For a night that will transport you to the rolling fields of Provence head to La Grillade.

Best dish: twice cooked duck breast glazed with sweet and sour cherries.
