Eating in a building that is nearly 200 hundred years old is a rare treat in Australia. Lovely atmosphere, great service and delicious food complete the experience.

A very pleasant relaxed place on the verandah for a breakfast after a cycle from Lane Cove.

I always like to go to Lachlans for a special occasion - birthday, anniversary etc. Sometimes we have to wait around outside for someone to notice us and come and seat us. Sometimes it takes a while. Once seated, everything is lovely in summer, however in autumn/winter, such as the last time we were there, we were freezing. We were sitting right next to the fireplace but it wasn't lit and neither of us wanted to take off our jacket. Also my husband had a touch of the flu and the cold atmosphere in the room really wasn't very helpful to his flu problems. The service was attentive, once seated, and the wait staff very pleasant. I thought the food was lovely. I always find it impossible to go past the crab entree. My husband on the other hand left nearly all his fish. He thought the batter was too thick and the fish not nice tasting. I had a taste and agreed with him. Perhaps it was the type of fish.

Food great. Service friendly but a little unsophisticated. Staff could do with a little more "polish". Worst gaff was non matching cutlery, next was over filling the wine glasses.

Service was prompt with engaging input from waiters without overstaying their welcome at the table. Food was of a high standard, freshness & taste. Unfortunately the lamb was very overcooked.
