Meet the Chef

Kate Lamont has had an extensive career establishing herself as one of the leading restaurateurs of Perth. From humble beginnings at the family owned Swan Valley winery to running venues across the state, Kate has spread her love of preparing fresh seasonal produce & pairing it with amazing wines from across the globe. Her greatest pleasure as a chef is knowing that guests have enjoyed the entire food & wine experience rather than leaving with the memory of a particular wine or dish.

    Lamont’s was very good. The service was informal but top notch. The wine and food was really good. We kept to the shared tapas for four people and all the dishes were beautiful. The atmosphere was lovely and quiet because we were the first customers for the evening but we stayed for a few hours as the place filled, but it was still very easy and relaxed.

    From the minute I entered the restaurant I was greeted with warmth and professionalism, the staff were fabulous and very attentive, but not overly, helpful and mindful! I met with a client and found the experience very relaxed and enjoyable, food so fresh and delicious, cant wait to return!

    New Year’s Eve at Lamonts - great food, great wine, great service. People are amazing cant ask for anything more to celebrate 2019 into 2020! Highly recommended

    A delightful evening, excellent food and accompanying service delivered in a great atmosphere. I'd prefer a more comprehensive menu but what was on offer was interesting and delicious.

    The food, wine and service were excellent. The dishes were fresh and so full of flavor beautifully presented. Our favorites were the Truffle artichoke, wagyu bresaola, crusty bread and Blue swimmer crab, crushed pea, lemon evoo and the Shark Bay whiting, tempura, lemon.

    This neighbourhood wine store / bistro showcases the best of Australian food and wine (and an amazing selection of high quality, well priced imported wines too). The service is second to none - the staff here set the benchmark all other WA restaurants should be aspiring to. I highly recommend the shark bay whiting, truffle artichoke (my favourite item on the menu), the pork belly and the fillet steak.

    Very nice lunch, Blue swimmer crab, crushed pea, lemon evoo, Shark Bay whiting, tempura, lemon and the Salmon carpaccio were wonderful. (Maybe better because Kate was cooking).

About the restaurant

Cocktail hour yet? Lamont’s Wine Store in Cottesloe is kinda like a wine bar, kinda like a bistro. While the emphasis here is on amazing wines, they certainly don’t skimp on the food. Their seasonal tapas menu gives you so much to choose from, you can complement your evening inebriant with fresh and seasonal foods from WA. Their starters really set the pace with gob-stuffers such as duck parfait and venison chorizos. And their tapas can be does as sides or as mains with seafood surprises like whiting, blue swimmer crab and grilled tiger prawns. Mouth-watering meats include crisped quail and a Chinese Szechuan style steak. Sorry? Oh right, the wine list. They’ve got the best local and international wines you could dream of, usually imported direct from Euro-cellars to be enjoyed at the bar or bought to take away. Lamont’s also does tasting events and private bookings for functions. Head over to Lamont’s early because they’re sure to keep you up late. Best dish: Black Angus pie
