Food is great! Service is friendly. We had the lunch banquet for two, and we finished the entire lot. Parking is a lot easier now that it's not at the Campbell Shops, but paid unfortunately. But better than not getting a spot at all.

By far the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff in any Canberra restaurant. Fantastic food, great setting, not crowded. Treat yourself to a night here and you’ll see why there’s no empty tables! Fine casual dining at it’s best

The Resturaunt is new and not as unique in atmosphere yet holds the charm of the original Lanterene menu . We had the tasting menu and I do think it could be better thought out - I have had a lot of tasting and degustation menus and it did not meet the level of expectation -I felt we could have ordered direct from the menu and there was no real difference - As I have worked extensively in hospitality I think if you could take more time on a special degustation tasting section as you have but with more refine options and more care taken in presentation and something that stands out . Nothing stood out really and the bases flavour were so similar the subtlety of each dish was lost in the palate to a miscellaneous salty taste. Somehow u need to create a sensory experience if u are going to stand out Which fur your Buisness is a opportunity Give it some thought The host and service was lovely great friendly and considerate host - Very helpful despite us being lost as the ‘ fork ‘ who I booked woth had the wrong location / I gave Let the Fork Know

This restaurant has long been a favourite of ours. This was our first visit to it in it’s new location and it did not disappoint. The food, service and ambience were all excellent. Found car parking a little difficult until we found the parking garage behind the restaurant with plenty of parking available.

Lanterne Rooms has moved - fortunately, the food and service are still excellent. Ambience has improved at their new venue. Well worth the visit.

Met a friend there for lunch and ordered from the Market lunch menu. Excellent food at a very reasonable price. Prompt service, which is always essential for a work day lunch. Definitely on my 'go there again' list.

Great food and service as always, but prefer the ambience of the old venue which was more comfortable and intimate. In the new venue we sat on garden chairs (with cushions) in an open dining hall, but still enjoyed the excellent cuisine and service.

The restaurant has moved and did not bother to notify us, its a short drive from the original location its a difficult to be dropped off or to park. We had the degustation menu which is reasonably priced and more than enough food. The first 3 courses where excellent as was the dessert but the other courses where over spiced, too salty and not that great. Overall a nice night.

Although this restaurant has relocated in Campbell its has been able to maintain the unique style and high level of service and food quality. Well done team.

I miss the atmosphere of the Lanterne Rooms from their old location. It definitely has a different feel and I think it has lost some of that special something that I so adored. The food was very tasty and of a high quality just wish we could have some of that exclusiveness back and a little hint of mystery.

Parking was a problem and I was disappointed not to get a response to a phone message that I left with the restaurant asking for advice about parking availability

About the restaurant

Lanterne light...

One of Canberra's best kept secrets. Lanterne Rooms is tucked away at Campbell shops, offering A-ma style Nyonya Malay cuisine with a twist.

The dining room is dark and intimate, making it ideal for couples, and the share style menu makes it great for groups too! The dishes change regularly but in our opinion the seafood items are the real highlight - think fresh XO scallops with mango salsa & sesame leave or steamed mussels with spicy coconut broth.

Come and sample this Canberra institution, you won't regret it!

Best dish: Soton Satay - marinated chilli squit with rojak
