It was a nice, cosy space great for a romantic date. Food serving was very small surprisingly even though we know its a tapas restaurant.
The guys here cancelled our reservation just 5 hours before we were due to arrive due to maintenance issues they said they had. Very disappointed as our booking was for a planned birthday celebration.
Javier and his team revel in providing a deliciously authentic taste of Catalonia! If you enjoy being treated like part of the family and love tapas and great Spanish wine this is a fantastic spot! It’s small (so it can get noisy) and it’s very busy on weekends (so book), but we loved it and will go back regularly!
Friendly service and European feel atmosphere. Tasty dishes, but bigger variety on the menus would be nice. Had a lovely time with friends.
Amazing perfect food and the ribs were phenomenal would go back just for them.
Too many seats for such a small space. Seated for 15minutes no one served us or even looked at our table until I got up to walk out. Have eaten here several times, won’t be back.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Going back!
This was a great no frills venue with quality food and friendly staff.
Lovely evening Sardines and ribs were amazing
Did not honor the fork promotion. Advised it specific for a certain time but checked on fork and it still has it available in the time I was there. They were not happy about the promotion so decided not to give a discount. Service is pretty appalling. Had a booking and they had not actually kept the seats available so had to wait 15 minutes. Once we were seated, didn't have service for about 20minutes...they seemed under staffed. The mix Jamon board which was priced at $30, was two slices of bread and 6 small pieces of cured meats...3 prosciutto and 3 what seemed to be a soppressa... Do not order that. Generally unhappy with the experience. Walking in I was actually really excited but let down by the service, the value for money and timeliness in getting food out.
The owner was very hospitable and engaging with the customers. He suggested some of the dishes I ate and the food was delicious . I think everyone will love this restaurant.
great tapas options, good atomsphere
Las Tapas is to small for family and groups, the meal portions are very small, the service was ok but could have been more friendly. Without the 50% off there is no way I would recommend this place. Cramped with some atmosphere !
Crispy, well seasoned patatas bravas. Felt like we were in Spain.
One of our favourites. Food is fantastic and very friendly service
good neighbourhood restaurant.
Excellent dining experience! Great tapas.
foods are tasty, but some are overpriced, like only 3 prawn for $19 is too expensive.

Tap into this While every Tom, Dick and Harry seems to offering ‘tapas’ on their menus, there is a insurmountable difference between the ‘real deal’ and the wannabes. Quite clearly one of the former, Las Tapas Gastronomia Española puts the pretenders to shame with its delectable morsels of joy. Depending on the day, the offerings may include anything from garlic, chilli and parsley-brushed prawns, cured anchovy fillets dusted with smoked paprika, piquillo peppers stuffed with creamy goat´s cheese and smoked chorizo. Regardless of the day, you can be guaranteed to receive the finest Spanish flavours, which you should accompany with Spanish wine or sangria. Or a combo of both? Located in Barcelona - I mean Balaclava, in Melbourne’s inner-south, this place is a great venue to enjoy some tasty and fresh food while you catch up with friends. Best dish: paella (served on Sundays)
