Meet the Chef

Chef Josh Kim’s career boasts some of the best venues in Sydney, including Bert’s and Queen Chow in Newtown, Papichulo in Manly, Sokyo in Pyrmont, and Mr Wong in Sydney. During his career he has been closely aligned with some of hospitality heavyweight Merivale’s best brands, working across many Asian fusion menus. Josh moved to Adelaide with his family in 2018 to take the role of Head Chef at Electra House Hotel, and brings with him a passion for bold Asian flavours and local produce.

    Always awesome customer service with their friendly staff there. Space was spacious and dinning atmosphere was great. Food was delicious again and of great value with the The Fork 50% off festival.

    We chose 6 dishes from the menu to share and they were all delicious, the beef short rib was our favourite with the pork belly ribs a close second! We also ordered the coconut crème brûlée ice cream which was amazing & the fried ice cream which had a delicious batter but the ice cream inside was a bit plain.

    Excellent presentation of food and the flavours were good. Only downside was the octopus was chewy - it wasn't tenderised enough. We visited for lunch on Friday and the restaurant was not crowded at all. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back again.

    I went to the restaurant for my birthday dinner with my daughter. It’s great that they are part of the promotion on The Fork - it allowed us to try somewhere new! Andi was fantastic as a host. She was bright and helpful which suited the atmosphere. Her recommendations were spot on. I really loved the Snowed Corn - there is something special about this little plate of delight that is hard to describe except that the Umami level is high. We also ordered the lamb skewers that had a Thai-inspired sauce that was to divine. Just beautifully tangy but not overpowering. The grilled baby octopus topping was delicious as well though I could have done with slightly less oil and the baby octopus just a little bit more tender (but I’m nitpicking here). We also had the salmon aburi - which was interesting as the rice is deep fried to a crisp. I preferred the salmon tartare on top with the rice on its own. The highlight really and what was my favourite was the Coconut Brûlée. A dessert that will bring me back here. I got a free glass of wine and a little candle on my dessert for my birthday which was lovely. They have a good level of service here.

    First time to this restaurant. Great food with excellent tastes, can be a bit spice for the pork. The service is very friendly and the prices are reasonable.

    Once again we had an enjoyable occasion at Level One. Right from the first friendly welcome one is made to feel very welcome and the cheerful, friendly, attentive service continues throughout the meal of what is very fine and enjoyable food. We will be back.

    We love it here. Food is always so yummy and service attentive. Tonight was no different except that half our food took ages to be served. But overall we still had a great enjoyable night.

    Lovely food and atmosphere. Waiting staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Favourite’s were the snowed corn and Katso sandwich! I didn’t really enjoy the salmon donburi bowl.

Located on the first floor of Electra House Hotel, Level One is our award-winning Modern Asian shared plates restaurant.

A truly unique dining experience, our informed yet informal dining style compliments the creative menu filled with bold flavours and South Australian produce crafted by our Head Chef Josh Kim.
