The Bay Bug Beignets were so good that I wanted more. I picked this restaurant because of the beef, we were there for the Cape Grim but wasn't what I expected. There is a huge gap between dishes but overall service was very good and attentive.

First time and thoroughly enjoyed the total experience! Food was delicious, wait staff paired the wine for our food, service was excellent and a lovely relaxed, yet quality environment. A beautiful Sunday lunch with my wife and in-laws. We definitely visit again when we are back down in Melbourne.

Similar menu and prices to sister restaurant on Toorak Road. Great atmosphere with open kitchen, although when full it does tend to appear noisy. Food and service very professional, although I did regret not having the 'house made sausages' "Special" when I saw my neighbour have them. Oh well that means I will need to book again soon!

About L'Hotel Gitan

Ticking every box L’Hôtel Gitan is the perfect balance of elegance and nostalgia, backed by quality French cuisine, an experienced team and a hospitality legend. Inside this gorgeous eatery a striking open kitchen is the hero of the space, strategically positioned between the bistro and dining room so diners can spy on the kitchen activity. Patrons can sit at prominent teal banquettes or at bistro-style tables for a casual meal, book out the private dining space for a major function or relax in the outdoor dining area. Jacques Reymond’s menu, like the fit out, is based on hand-selecting the best. Diners can expect sustainable produce that respects the natural flavours. From seared scallop salad with natural Tasmanian salmon and passionfruit ceviche to Cape Grim grass-fed porterhouse steak with fries these guys have got it all. The wine list is a European vacation with appearances from Australia and New Zealand, alongside beers and cider, both on tap and in bottles. For a night that will tick every box imaginable come to the L'Hotel. Best Dish: three pepper duck magret
