Romain Bapst

Hailing from France, Romain was raised the son of a butcher, giving him an appreciation for meat and live produce that far excels most chefs and has led to his status as one of Australia’s two Maître Canardier. Following extensive training and work in France, Romain relocated to Australia in 1990. He has managed numerous restaurants in his past 30 years throughout Australia, but is now based in Brisbane to focus on his finest venture, Lutèce Bistro & Wine Bar.

About Lutece Bistro & Wine Bar - French Restaurant

A night in Paris? Lutece Restaurant & Bar is a much-appreciated taste of French refinement in an otherwise ordinary suburban shopping strip. Inside, the decor is minimal and modern with dark floor tiles, opaque French cafe chairs and tables covered with crisp white tablecloths that exude a sense of understated class. The highlight is panoramic view of the city that is best appreciated at lunchtime. The menu is French (of course), boasting traditional dishes with a modern twist. The menu is seasonal, so if you visit in winter take full advantage of those rich French flavours in dishes like a 24-hour braised mushroom and truffle stuffed oxtail – this will literally melt in your mouth! The fantastic flavours are courtesy of esteemed French chef Romain Bapst who has created this fresh oasis in the middle of Brisbane.
