Excellent
A quaint restaurant with exquisite French food, the lamb was truly mouth watering. We had entrees main and dessert. Plus we couldn’t resist the cheese board, but probably didn’t need this as the portions are large. Would go back, a great find in the heart of the city.
The service was very well and made me comfortable. The entree tasted good. However, the main courses were not very well. The duck chest and lamb are tough that made my and my friend's masseters really tired. On the other hand, the main courses were salty, which made me lose interest in desserts.
The staff were fabulously happy and friendly. Great food. I have been going there since it was Scoffs Bistro/Paramount/ and Macleay Bistro. The food here has always been the best. I love the "Paris Mash" starters:- garlic prawn and scallops is so delicious.
Excellent as always but the mains prices could be lower
I’ve always walked past this restaurant but never realised what an institution it is The food was fantastic! The service could do with improvement. Many times we tried to catch the waiter’s attention no no vail. My colleague had to physically walk toward the bar/counter to ask them for another round of drinks. Maybe more waitstaff required to keep up with the demand? Had an amazing night nevertheless
I made a booking for dinner for 8 at 5.30pm. On completely the wrong day! The party turned up and there was no booking. The staff were so accommodating and gracious. It was a memorable evening in terms of atmosphere and food - the steak tartare! ???? ! Recommend highly ????
Superb restaurant, wonderful ambience, excellent food with fine attention to detail. The service is excellent and the staff very friendly. Thank you !
Excellent food.
nice food and nice staffs????
Good good but wooden service.
Classic French fare served with aplomb! Great atmosphere and easy service. Thoroughly recommend the twice baked cheese soufflé and the chicken liver parfait. Bon appetit!
Always a wonderful meal and fab service at Macleay Street Bistro. A must go for a relaxed meal any day of the week with great selection of entrees and mains, with killer desserts.
Lovely French bistro with excellent friendly staff and great wines at reasonable prices. A Potts Point institution.
The food is delicious and precise. Very French and of high quality. The restaurant ambience is cosy and elegant. Service could be a tad more helpful - i.e. assistance with menu options and wines, but this is not an issue if you know your French food and wine pairings! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.
We were totally ignored by our waiter and Maitre d for at least 30 minutes after being seated. Not even a wine order taken . After beckoning the waiter he took the wine order but never brought it so after another 15 mins I waved down the owner and he brought drinks . Food orders were yet to be taken - meanwhile the restaurant is now half empty . It was almost like I felt they were intentionally ignoring us . Service did not improve - cutlery had to asked for, when another bottle Of wine was ordered it arrived. It not poured . Food quality was good but the service was so disappointing. I had been there a week earlier with a local friend and was so impressed then I booked for this week. Could it be that not being a local myself made the difference between a great and terrible experience? It should not come to but I will never go back And risk what happened last night . Very embarrassed as it was my recommendation to friends we hosted who are in hosipitality too.
There are obvious reasons that this bistro has been going since 1982. Superb french classics, friendly service & BYO !!!! - well worth a visit & very reasonably priced quality dining.
Delicious and very generous portions. Good overall selection of classic favorites and small but well rounded wine list.
The food was really good, it's a fairly compact and traditional menu but really enjoyable meal. The only downside was being seated at a table by the front door (literally right by the door to the street), which they kept opening as the kitchen was getting too hot and apparently they have no ventilation...so if it's cold outside it is pretty brisk at this oddly placed front table. Make sure to request not sitting there, and be sure to get there on time or they will probably put you there.
The food here is delicious, the cheese souffle a real highlight!!! Husband is French and gives it 5 stars as well, and we know French don’t give 5 stars so easily ???? Lovely service, its a tiny little place and a great find
It felt like Paris!! Great atmosphere, delicious food and a reasonable price. Service helpful but also left you in peace to enjoy your meal. Would absolutely recommend.
