Great local!
We are here for dinner last night and the food was delicious, we have the potato & beef dosai for starter and it's was delicious. The main was also delicious, service was great and will definitely come again. Thank you
Excellent food. Great service. Staff are so nice!
Visited restaurant after approximately 18 years and so nice to see that standards have not dropped. Manager Shiva gave us his undivided attention, food was fab. Highly recommended.
Really enjoyed the meal I had with three friends. We had 3 mains, rice, 3 lots of Naan bread, papadums and a couple of accompaniments. We were full. Quality of the food was great and we were looked after. There was a function upstairs that did distract the waiters at times, but we all agreed that we'd be more than happy to go back. It was great.
It was good experience but way too costly
Great food and good service
Attentive service and great food
Interesting tasty food, very good & friendly service
Consistently good
Love that its BYO and also consistently good. Finally on this visit found a favourite spinach dish from when I was in India - that will become a regular order now!
The dhosas are superb! Love the food - very busy and noisy - seems to attract large groups so not that great for couples seeking a quiet dinner. But despite the noise I would go for the food.
The food and service were incredible, some of the best Indian I’ve eaten in a long time. Will definitely return.
consistently good!
The Dosas are the best! Always efficient and kind service.
Consistently good quality food and service

Smell the spices
The Malabar restaurants (you can find one in Darlinghurst as well) take their name from the Kerala region, known for its Indian spices such as pepper, cardamon, ginger, curry leaves and vanilla. This was the start of the famous Spice Trail, which went on to bring exotic flavours to every corner of the Earth. Today, that’s what Malabar aims to do: show diners a real taste of South Indian cuisine. Owner and chef, Mohammed Sali has had 22 years of experience and continues to personally pick all of his ingredients daily; peeling onions, slicing beef and grounding spices by hand. Mohammed’s creations are fragrant, filling and, as expected, spicy!
Dosai’s (crepe-style specialties) can be found on almost every table, along with a glass of creamy mango lassi, that other diners use to wash down the heat! You’ll also spy the happiness on children’s faces when they smell the garlic naan coming their way.
Best dish: bangalore dosai - hand-mashed potatoes sprinkled with chilli, sesame seed and coconut flakes
