I love the food here and been coming here for a few years now! Best turkish food so far :) The only thing is it’s quite cramped for space especially if u need a high chair for a child, otherwise , it was fabulous
amazing, must try turkish restaurant. honestly one of the best turkish restaurants in melbourne. Got a few of the dips and grilled prawns as a starter. and the mixed grill meats were cooked to perfection.
The food served and service were very good. I liked the set up and location. The wine choices were excellent. Thank you for a lovely evening. We will be back.
Generous portions, reasonable prices and delightful atmosphere combined with a tasty menu makes Marmara a Chapel Street gem worth visiting more than once.
Very disappointed in the Taramasalata. The lamb and beef pide was not really great. Calamari was good but not exceptional. Deserts were okay. Left most of the pide and told waiter we didn’t like it but we’re still charged. The sparkling water was good.
Please take into account that the reservation is for 2h only, which is not mentioned while booking or in a confirmation email. We were advised to leave in a middle of going through mains.

Amaaaazing food. The iskender kebab is one of the best I have ever had in Melbourne. Great work chef! The ambience is cosy and nice too. I especially liked the painting and video playing on the wall that looks like a glimpse through a window.
There’s a warm and welcoming atmosphere in this charming restaurant,the menu is extensive to cater for all tastes, the pides are tasty as is the fish clay pot. It’s not too noisy either which is a big plus. Love the decor and the sense of being on the Bosphorus. Will definitely be returning.
Try the banquet for two if you’re unsure, the selection presented showcases delicious flavours, I’ve been here twice now, and will definitely be going back again

Away from the bustling retail end of Chapel Street, you will find Marmara Turkish Restaurant, one of Australia’s oldest Turkish restaurants. Established in 1980, the secret to Marmara’s longevity is clear: offering hungry diners a genuine Turkish experience. We can’t go past the special banquet, which leaves no stone unturned when it comes to the best of Turkish food. Entrée does more than whet your appetite with dips, baked eggplant, Turkish bread, a spinach and feta spring roll, fresh green beans and vine leaves. Not to be outdone, the main course sees you sampling fresh calamari, iskender kebab, shish kebab, shish tavuk and grilled prawns. Don’t eat meat? Not a problem! The flavours of Turkish food lend themselves perfectly to vegetarian cuisine. All banquets are accompanied by pilav (rice) and a garden salad, although we wouldn’t blame you for moving straight to the selection of desserts and beverages (both hot and cold) that are also heading your way. After all, what Mediterranean meal is complete without baklava and Turkish coffee? If you’re not quite ready to take on a banquet, Marmara also offers an extensive eat-in and takeaway menu.
