A delightful culinary adventure amidst quaint surroundings
We always love going to Marmara. And as usual our meals this time was very good. Our one minor disappointment was that the meat dishes were lukewarm when served. Perhaps they had been sitting for a while beforehand.
We had the Classic Banquet which was delicious and generous. Great value for money. Everyone enjoyed their meal and couldn't ask for more. Staff were helpful and polite.
Disappointed was not made aware that they have the first lot of reservations from 6pm till 8pm and second lot of reservations from 8pm till closing time. I beleive it was the owner that approached us and asked us if we were Turkish and we said no. I do not know why he asked us if we were Turkish. Than told us to hurry up and order our deserts and coffee and to quickly eat it as our table was booked for 8pm. We canceled our order and left and went somewhere else
Second visit almost a year apart. Quality and service as impressive as I remember =) Thank you to the dedicated Marmara team for another memorable dinning experience.
Lovely staff and good food, especially the dips - yum!
Highly recommended this Turkish restaurant Marmara! Why? Because of extremely delicious Mixed Grilled and Kofta there!!! I sure I will definitely visit them again! Cheers
Always amazing yet again!
Great ambiance and food, especially Iskender. Recommended!
Been here many times, we drive for an hour to eat at Marmara, Bottom line, the food and service are faultless, my favourite restaurant in all of Melbourne and I’ve eaten at hundreds of them.
Great food and lovely ambience
The food is flavoursome and good variety of on offer. The roast capsicum and the pides are especially good. The dips and bread are a great staple and the food came out pretty quickly. A nice spot for decent Turkish grub.
Totally enjoyed our dinner. Wait staff was very helpful with our menu choices for food and wine. Food was excellent and pace was great. We were also left alone for a bit to relax and finish our wine before dessert (which was also fantastic!).
Food was tasty and cooked well. Friendly staff and good ambience.
Excellent restaurant. Gra service and selection. Pretty
I love the food here and been coming here for a few years now! Best turkish food so far :) The only thing is it’s quite cramped for space especially if u need a high chair for a child, otherwise , it was fabulous
amazing, must try turkish restaurant. honestly one of the best turkish restaurants in melbourne. Got a few of the dips and grilled prawns as a starter. and the mixed grill meats were cooked to perfection.
The food served and service were very good. I liked the set up and location. The wine choices were excellent. Thank you for a lovely evening. We will be back.
Generous portions, reasonable prices and delightful atmosphere combined with a tasty menu makes Marmara a Chapel Street gem worth visiting more than once.
68 Chapel Street, 3181, Windsor, Australia
True Turkish delight
Away from the bustling retail end of Chapel Street, you will find Marmara Turkish Restaurant, one of Australia’s oldest Turkish restaurants. Established in 1980, the secret to Marmara’s longevity is clear: offering hungry diners a genuine Turkish experience. We can’t go past the special banquet, which leaves no stone unturned when it comes to the best of Turkish food. Entrée does more than whet your appetite with dips, baked eggplant, Turkish bread, a spinach and feta spring roll, fresh green beans and vine leaves. Not to be outdone, the main course sees you sampling fresh calamari, iskender kebab, shish kebab, shish tavuk and grilled prawns. Don’t eat meat? Not a problem! The flavours of Turkish food lend themselves perfectly to vegetarian cuisine. All banquets are accompanied by pilav (rice) and a garden salad, although we wouldn’t blame you for moving straight to the selection of desserts and beverages (both hot and cold) that are also heading your way. After all, what Mediterranean meal is complete without baklava and Turkish coffee? If you’re not quite ready to take on a banquet, Marmara also offers an extensive eat-in and takeaway menu. As the restaurant’s name derives from the region of Turkey surrounding the Sea of Marmara, we love trying the new seafood specials, such as the claypot with grilled king prawns, scallops, mussels, calamari, fresh tomato, spinach, garlic, fresh herbs and pesto. As they say in Turkey, ‘afiyet olsun’ (or bon appetit)!
