Scott Pickett

Having grown up in South Australia, Scott Pickett excelled in Michelin star restaurants, before starting his own venture in Melbourne. 2011 saw Scott open his first restaurant, Estelle Bar Kitchen in Melbourne’s North, now newly renovated and named Estelle. In 2013 Pickett opened his first Collingwood venue, Saint Crispin. Pickett’s Deli and Rotisserie in Melbourne’s city came next in 2016, then 2018 saw the creation of Pickett’s first South side venue, Matilda 159 Domain.

Incredible atmosphere! It was an experience to sit & watch the kitchen work over all the roaring fires in the middle of winter! Delightful evening & food.

The food at Matildas is fresh and clean tasting. I’ve been many times and tried lots of dishes and have not been disappointed. The flavours are not overwhelmed by richness so you don’t leave feeling uncomfortable. I love the duck (which is always on the menu ) and the mackerel but the menu does change. The bread and butter is wonderful also. Always order a vegetable side as they are delicious.

Maddy our waitstaff was incredible .... Highly HIGHLY recommend ordering the Sea Bream tartare. Definitely the standouts on the menu. Great space, great music, great food, the entire offering is sublime

Incorporating the elements of earth, fire, nature, and water, Matilda features handcrafted timber tables, natural linen textures and an earthy colour scheme designed to create a feeling of comfort and warmth. Chefs Scott Pickett and Tim Young create a visual and sensory journey in their contemporary Australian menu, fueled by open fire, hot coals, and the best local produce. The use of different woods, smoke, charcoal, and fire takes the oldest form of cooking known to mankind, and explores how each enhances the flavour of the natural product. Awarded two Chef’s Hat by the Age Good Food Guide soon after opening, Matilda is refined yet relaxed enough to visit often. Join us for dinner and stay for a drink in Oscar’s Bar.
