The food was delicious and fresh, and the service extra good despite being super busy. Thanks for going the extra mile to ensure my dietary needs were met.

Really Nice Alfresco

dined on Sat, 22 Dec 2018

We had visitors from overseas and wanted them to experience dining in Melbourne, and nothing does that better than Hardware Lane. Our waiter spent a great deal of time explaining entrees and we settled in a couple of platters. 10 mins later they came back and asked for our mains...no surprise that mains were sent out and no entrees! It’s 2018 folks this is restaurant service 101? We cancelled the entrees and apologised to our guests and got on with the evening.

It was exactly as I expected. The service was lovely and friendly, food was of the quality I would have expected for the price. I would go there again.

After recommendations from a friend we visited Max’s. It’s the best! Every year we visit Melbourne we eat there. You can’t visit Melbourne without trying their food.

About Max on Hardware

One of Hardware's finest Melbourne is known for its maze of lanes and alleyways, but there’s one lane that is a cut above the rest. Hardware Lane, with it's red cobble stone pavement, covered by a canopy of colourful umbrella’s, is famous for its alfresco dining. At night the laneway comes to life with live jazz music and fresh faced diners, and it is the perfect backdrop for Max Bar and Restaurant. At this joint you’ll find fantastic Italian/Mediterranean style dishes cooked with love and affection. On the menu are all the classics, spaghetti meatballs, arancini balls, as well as some exciting pizza and seafood dishes. This is the perfect place to relax after a shopping trip or a long day at the office. You'll feel like a true Melbourneite at this dynamic lane way hotspot. Best Dish: gnocchi gorgonzola
