It was very busy but the staff made sure that they honoured our booking for four via The Fork. Cured meat platter was nice. Burgers were pretty good (a touch overcooked), but still good. My boy was happy with the chicken strips from the kids menu. Wine and beer also excellent.

They gave our table away to another group by mistake, then seated us downstairs in the back corner under a staircase and forgot about us, so not great service. Steaks were pretty good, but the pork ribs were undercooked (tough) or not cooked slowly enough and they were bland. A pretty forgettable experience to be honest.

Good place for a large group (though the wait for food can sometimes be quite long). Appreciate the location near the water and the lunchtime specials.

Great range of dishes and drinks with a lovely atmosphere. The service was welcoming and attentive. We tried the kangaroo steak which was delicious. The crocodile burger was not as nice as the Portuguese spicy chicken burger. Would love to come again to try the other dishes on the menu.

About the restaurant

Let the meaty addiction begin...

Welcome to the Meat District Co, where the meaty addiction begins. Taking up residence at King Street Wharf to further feed Sydney’s love affair with burgers, Meat District Co also serves us dishes such as hot dogs, ribs, grilled steaks and ‘The Hook’. The Hook brings theatrics to the table with lamb or chicken skewers served swinging from a hook with capsicum, onion and corn. The good thing to note is that all beef here is free of hormones, steroids and antibiotics - a huge win. Spread across two storeys, the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, water views and refrigerated cases which display hanging cured meats. Come for Slider and Cider night on Monday and Tuesdays where you can enjoy a mini pulled lamb burger, mini crumbed chicken burger, a side of chips and an ice cold Bulmers Cider for just $18. The start of the week has never look better at Meat District Co.

Best dish: classic cheeseburger with bacon, aged cheddar, caramelised onion, mixed greens, tomato, pickles and house sauce
