We went to MeatworksCo as it was highly recommended by a few friends. The location provided for easy parking as it was down a side street in South Melbourne. When we entered the building it was unfortunately very warm and I’m not sure if the air conditioning was working. Luckily it wasn’t too warm a day as the kitchen is an open kitchen so the heat from the cooking spreads into the dining area. It would be great in Winter but not so good in summer. Inside the decor is like an old warehouse with long tables and lots of space for all the dishes you will order. We ordered a meat platter ( a mix of sausages, ribs, steak, chicken drumsticks, wafting etc etc), steak frites, Brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese some and chips. Be warned this is not a place for vegetarians! The meat platter contained a generous amount of meat with a small side of coleslaw. Everyone found the meats tasty and very filling (pulled pork, pork ribs and wagyu brisket were the highlights) and the steak frites was a good size enough to fill up almost anyone who is particularly hungry although the cafe de paris butter had melted almost entirely when it arrived and we had to scoop the butter sauce off the plate onto the steak. It comes with a large side of salad and a good serve of chips which were crispy and great to dip into some aioli. The Brussels sprouts were a bit on the small side as was the Mac and cheese for five and diners found the Brussels sprouts a good flavor but the Mac and cheese lacked taste. Maybe a bit more cheese as it wasn’t really smothered in cheese, just a light covering. One of the diners who had been before mentioned that it was much better last time with more sauce and flavor. For desserts they have an affogato, sticky date pudding and a pie - we think it was pistachio? The affogato was ok however the ice cream was very icy indicating it may have been left out and re refrigerated or just not enough cream, the sticky date pudding was doughy in its taste and was deemed as average however the pistachio pie was the highlight and full of flavor and good tasting. The poor waitress that night appeared to be the only one for the whole restaurant and was running from table non stop so it took a bit of time for things to be arranged and for some odd reason people who arrived after us got their dishes (same dishes) before we did. Overall a good place to go when you’re in the mood for some grilled meats. Highly recommended are the pulled pork, wagyu brisket, pork and beef ribs and dessert pie. Pick something else would be the Mac and cheese and desserts with ice cream or find a dessert shop/cake shop nearby or the local supermarket is a few minutes away to get an ice cream.

We had meat platter. It was really tasty. Pork ribs and pulled pork are Devine. Beef brisket is just ok. The crispy potatoes and veggie are good too. Service is a little slow but not too bad.

Visited this place the first time on Father’s Day. Good vibe good service and of course good food. We ordered the oysters and soft buns. Both are good. The stars are the beef ribs and pork ribs. We love them smoky and balanced perfectly with the sticky sauce. 10 out of 10. We didn’t order desserts because we were too full but will visit again (with a bigger group) to try other dishes and desserts.

Loved the BBQ & atmosphere. Their BBQ is one of the best I’ve had in Melbourne. The restaurant is in a large converted commercial garage with loads of character down to the music which really set the scene. It was a busy night so it did get a bit loud.

They're shifty as. They incentivize to book by offering a 30% discount, which really can't be redeemed. The guy host/cashier sat us down, we were directed to book through the QR code, where only options were to prepay or open the tab. I did that and went to pay at the cashier afterwards but was informed all payment was done and they can't do anything about it, no discount applied. The guy knew exactly what's going on, how bad is it going for this place to do these deceitful practices? Shameful. Food itself was good. Tried the meatworks platter to see where they are across the board. Sausage is chorizo style, pork belly tastes very asian, Good pulled pork and pastrami. Interesting chicken drumsticks. Chips are really stacked as described. Dessert tart dough was raw, however cream and toppings were great. The girl on the floor was very busy but still kind and friendly. In the end won't be returning and will certainly warn others.

A BBQ place in an old auto repair garage? Yes it’s just like that sounds. Rough around the edges, music to set the mood…think Stevie Ray Vaughan. The food matches it perfectly. Meat meat and more meat. Plenty of tasty sides, loved the Brussels sprouts. Definitely coming back.

Food was great! The place looked nice, rustic warehouse setting. Loved their playlist. The cocktails were good. Will be back again. The only reason didnt give 10 was we were seated near the counter and could hear orders being given, cocktails being made etc.
