Made a booking for a family day out. Received a booking confirmation but when we turned up, the restaurant was no longer there. The phone number provided on the booking was disconnected. Very very disappointed at booking at the fork. Spoiled the family night out.

Private booths and ordering from an ipad makes this a great meeting spot. Food is pretty good.

Menu has less options than before. Hot pot (Shabu Shabu) is always good.

This restaurant is OK for a quick eat, nice presentation with their foods and tasty. I don't think that the pricing matches the food, however. A little expensive for what it is - otherwise, food was tasty and service was good.

Didn't spend much on our food because our food orders took so long to come out. Our first order took almost two hours to come out. One particular dish was burnt and when I asked for them to return it they told me it was just the colour of the sauce. Trust me, it was burnt.

We tried the all you can eat deal. The menu items available is not the actual full menu that you would usually get. Most of the foods that we ordered was tasty, however the sashimi caparccio dishes came out warm and the food service was a bit slow (seems like they wait for a few of the same orders before cooking and serving). Also, some dishes like the eggplant miso and lotus root chips tasted like they were pre-cooked and the lotus root chips were pretty stale. However, for the price that you pay it is still pretty good value for what you get.

About the restaurant

Umai!

Mizuya is unusual among the Japanese restaurants in Sydney in that it offers izakaya dining in true Japanese style. This involves sitting in private booths with small or large groups and ordering from state-of-the-art touchscreen menus. There’s a huge choice of traditional and modern Japanese dishes to share, including scrumptious raw fish and slices of seared meats – all served with care for presentation. It’s all made by a Japanese chef Jun Miyauchi, so you know you’re getting the real thing. But that’s not all that makes Mizuya really special. Its discreet little booths double up as entertainment centres where you can be a karaoke superstar. You’ve got hundreds and thousands of songs to choose from in both English and Japanese, so get out those anime classics you learnt as a kid and start rehearsing! This izakaya and karaoke joint is ideal for birthdays, business parties and special occasions. But you can always come in for some casual nibbles and a drink at the bar. So start practising your do-re-me’s and book in at Mizuya for karaoke good-times!
