Pudding was the best

Memorable experience. Port infused foie gras was very nice. Porto gin tonic went along great with it. Flan à perfect desert. Hugo is a perfect waiter.

Superb experience at the very heart of Porto. Class and elegance, surpassed only by the food itself. Excellent staff service, attentive and entertaining. An overall experience that will make you feel like royalty. Special recommendation: Sea-bass wrapped in puff pastry.

Located on the main avenue of the city of Porto, the second largest in Portugal, and part of the newly opened Monumental Palace Hotel by french chain Maison Albar, the Monumental Cafe 1923 is a beauty on it's own right. Gilded in gold and bathed by the sunlight coming in from the massive windows looking downtown, the atmosphere is sophisticated, yet personal, fancy but not pretentious. To compliment the menu designed by chef Julien Montbabut, you also have the option of having cocktails, a speedy menu-du-jour, or just simply coffee or tea.

After an excellent breakfast taken at Monumental Cafe a few weeks ago, we decided to give it a try for Xmas day lunch and we were not disappointed. Dishes were excellent and refined as well as nicely presented. Service remained cordial but attentionate. Next try will be for the restaurant Le Monument on Dec 29. Follow us then.
