What a feast! The food was absolutely delicious, and we loved their flavoured vodkas. Service was excellent, so friendly and helpful. We have found our new favourite Eastern European restaurant!!

Interesting banquet. Smaller portions would be appropriate as food was wasted. Enjoyable variety of flavours. Excellent waitress

Always a great place to eat and good sitting by the open fire on a chilly wet night! Lots of yummy choices and a specials board just to add more dishes to choose from.

We had a really lovely evening celebrating a birthday. The banquet was a vast array of different tastes which worked beautifully for our group of 7. The service was friendly, efficient and fun, with the special (unasked for) touch of a candle in dessert and the wait staff singing Happy Birthday! Would definitely recommend, and will return!

About the restaurant

Eat Like a Tsar There’s way more to Russian cuisine than vodka (although vodka is certainly a good place to start). Nevsky Russian Restaurant in Elsternwick gives you a true taste of Russian and Eastern European fare. And don’t worry — you’ll get a touch of the opulence of the Tsars too. Cosy up to the fireplace in this warm and inviting restaurant. It’s an ideal locale for passing chilly winter nights in Melbourne. Sample a selection of classic Russian dishes with a twist, or indulge in a decadent banquet option for two or more people. There’s a function space upstairs too that serves a range of Russian-style dishes made for sharing. In the main dining room, the menu features many dishes that are gluten free, so you’ll be spoiled for choice. Cold entrees include traditional Russian salad, a beetroot salad or salmon cured in vodka. Of course there’s borsch – how could there not be! – or a spicy lamb soup if you’re looking for something to warm you up. As you move down the menu, you’ll be enticed by the range of options — crepes with mushrooms and onions, creamy veal stroganoff, Siberian meat dumplings and more. And then, of course, there is vodka. Best dish: Piroshki (house-made baked pastry filled with cabbage and egg or minced beef)
