Food was great. Sitting on the outdoor tables along Chinatown was quite enjoyable.

Food was ok - fresh but was nothing special. Nothing in particular to criticise, but nothing to highlight. was hoping for fried ice cream ball to be special, very very ordinary. Service was friendly enough - venue clean - plates not chipped, so if Chinatown not a bad place to go if a meal on the go. Like being in a 1980's Chinese restaurant - world around it has changed, but they haven't - just good clean food, good portion size - nothing to remember though

Chose restaurant as one of our party is vegetarian and has coeliac disease and can't have gluten, the restaurant advertises as having gluten free options. Grim server was annoyed by gluten free request, after consulting with manager offered unseasoned steamed greens with rice as only safe option...no garlic, no chilli, no salt, no gluten free soy sauce, no seasoning at all. HUGE plate of unseasoned thick green stems and some leaves. Since when does garlic or chilli have gluten? Another dish ordered by one of our party was salt and pepper king prawns. Prawns were in a very thick crust of salt, had to try scrape it off at table or inedible. Can recommend...that you stay away from this 1970s dated looking restaurant with grim service and overseasoned and underseasoned food.

Food was good and portion is quite big, we orderred 4 portions of soup for 8 persons to share and 5 dishes and stuffed full. But food was quite salty so for those who are not used to eating salty food can try asking for lesser salt when ordering. Overall this is good restaurant

As soon as you come in, you are greeted by the stench of kitchen grease. That already is an indication of the degree of cleanliness of the place. Styling and decor are really dated. They need to refurbish. Atmosphere is very dark and gloomy. Food is tasty, but half of our orders came out cold. The other half did come out hot, but turned cold quickly, as if they were just “left-over stock” and just zapped in the microwave. We can not fault the service, though.

Some dishes were ok, others tasted like they had been prepared from frozen. Service was good, however would not return.

Dim sim was good, but the stir fried vegies with scallops was a bit disappointed this time

About Nine Dragons

Yum cha all day long! Nine Dragons restaurant set up shop in the heart of Sydney’s bustling Chinatown in the 1970’s and was one of the first venues in the area to start serving yum cha. The dining room is ornate and comfortable and the menus (both a la carte and yum cha) are well priced and extremely tasty. Their seafood menu is extensive and always a safe bet and there is also an excellent vegetarian menu to boot. Get here with a group of friends and family and get ready to eat big! Best dish: yum cha.
