I only have positives to say about the Northcote Social Club - food, staff, atmosphere, location, value etc were excellent. My one concern was with booking through theFork. I received a confirmatory email from theFork but was then told by staff at the NSC two hours before (when dropping off a cake) my booking time that they were actually over-booked and might not be able to fit us in - that theFork and NSC booking systems don't 'talk' to eachother. We had a table of ten to celebrate my son's 30th with family coming from Gippsland and the Yarra Valley. It all worked out in the end but it was a momentary stress I could've lived without. I will definitely return to NSC, unlikely to book through theFork.
We enjoyed our dinner. Atmosphere great. Service excellent. ....................................... ........................... ......................
Super friendly and helpful staff, good vibes, great food that came out in a timely fashion. Absolutely loved the barramundi. Don’t ever change it.
The staff at the Northcote Social Club were welcoming, knowledgeable and extremely helpful during our visit. I had taken my elderly parents who have evacuated from the East Gippsland fires. The staff suggested meal changes to ensure my parents enjoyed their meal even more. I can’t thank you enough. Our food was delicious, as too were the drinks. Keep up the great service.
This was our second visit. Our first visit the meals were mixed up but we had a lovely time as an early party of four. We have a regular event on this side of town (so we’re not cool enough to be locals!) but we love the $20 steak night and want to make it a regular meal. Last night our meals were lovely. Beautifully cooked, wonderful veggies. The only sour point? The guy who took our orders was really surly. Didn’t smile at us, scowled the whole time, didn’t engage in conversation and charged me extra for swapping out potatoes for greens (which I happily always pay, but this hadn’t happened the previous meal). It wasn’t busy, we got there at 5pm. Call me old fashioned, but doesn’t hospitality mean being hospitable? If you can’t be pleasant to customers, get another job.
Delicious food, but always takes a good 25 minutes which is a lot for a quiet weeknight. Very yummy food. Allow up to 15 minutes to find a park, so perhaps push your booking back.
Great place, very accommodating and a great atmosphere!
Cool outdoor dining venue with a great vibe
Great food and service
great pub all round. Perfect pre gig food option.
Great local pub with a fantastic friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Good food, great beer and very supportive of the local music scene
Surprisingly broad menu with something for the traditional pub diner as well as the more adventurous in the crew. Everything was fresh and well presented. Nice atmosphere too, they haven’t lost the neighbourhood pub feel but got rid of the sticky carpet and derros in the bar. Also a great place to see a live band or three.
Great food and venue
The bar staff need training urgently. No idea of wines and no idea of beer strengths. "What shiraz do you have by the glass?" "cab sav I think!" A mid on tap would be good for those driving to the venue.
Great food, wine list good too very nice meal
We thought drinks were expensive at $10 for a glass of Chardonnay
Great location, perfect nenue and setup to be social with mates.
Such a great atmosphere pre-gig!
Great Steak night and awesome outdoor area!
Price mainly due to alcohol. Great meals & atmosphere.
