This cosy little gem of a restaurant produces the most authentic izakaya dining experience outside of Japan. Wonderful atmosphere, traditional seating options and an extensive food and beverage menu make O cha cha a winner in our eyes, highly recommended 5/5
Always a good time when visiting here, the wait can be long but that's what quality prepared and cooked food takes, the atmosphere is dainty and they offer a very nice Japanese selection of whiskies which I enjoyed.
We love coming here! Small restaurant that punches above its weight. The food was delicious as always. Staff were very friendly and the soy milk pudding is the best I have tasted. Definitely worth the trip!
Excellent food and service, although not busy at the time. Would recommend for those looking for the real deal. Will be back, a great fi d. Rest room outside restaurant.
Ocha cha’s is the best hidden little gem Japanese restaurant in Cairns. We have never had anything but great food, great service and great atmosphere here.
A family owned and run traditional Japanese restaurant. The food is excellent, fresh and carefully prepared. The waitress is very efficient and has a kind and sweet disposition. I was quickly transported back to Japan during this meal. We will definitely be regular customers of this lovely Japanese restaurant. Kate and Graham
Small family operated Japanese restaurant. We ordered 7 kinds mixed tempura, only 1 is Prawn, the rest are fried vegetables type at AUD19 which is quiet expensive. The bbq beef with rice set tasted salty and beef overcooked. Not my choice of quality food.
Absolutely delighted to have found this hidden treasure in Cairns. A small space with an authentic Japanese ambience and an incredible Izakaya style menu. The waitress could not have been more welcoming and the food was fresh, healthy and tasted sensational. Can’t fault it. As a Cairns local, I dare say this is the best food in town ????????
The food never disappoints. Fresh ingredients and great presentation. I love the atmosphere and when you step in it feels like you are in japan.
first time being there. the lady who waited our table was very polite and helpful. would reccomend this family owned restuarant to everyone. definitely will be coming back.
The food is always great and authentic. The atmosphere is nothing. The tables are cramped. The service is terrible with one waitress and two cooks. If you are after a quality Japanese meal at a bargain price, you can’t go past Ochacha????????
Such a lovely, warm little restaurant nestled above a rather creepy abandoned brewery. This was our second time here and it did not disappoint. Our first visit, we greedily ordered a bunch of smaller plates to share and spent quite a bit of $. This time around, we decided to get some sets - we both ordered the beef Shabu Shabu set off the specials menu and my plates and bowls were licked clean by the end of the night. Service was warm and polite. There are only 3 people working - a waitress and two owner-chefs ( a married couple), and there is a sign apologising for any potential delays. The place was busy but the pace of service was absolutely fine, and the waitress' manners were impeccable. Ourselves and everyone else seemed to be having lots of fun :)
One of our few favourites in Cairns. Delicious meals at great process and lovely service.
Nice meals and we will be back again
awesome as always!
A wonderful mini Tokyo tucked away right in the centre of Cairns Very Authentic food and Great service by the one and only waitress I will revisit when back in Cairns
