My mum had coconut prawns which she said were lovely but I had the kangaroo and unfortunately it was over done with not a lot of flavour. The staff were great, very friend and attentive.
Beautifully orchestrated valentines day menu. We shared the experience with another couple and considered the chefs inspirations for menu options was perfectly balanced and appropriately priced. Our only disappointment was the humidity and outdoor seating which I had assumed we would have been in air conditioning. The wait staff were very friendly, helpful and discreetly fussed around us with attention to detail. Thank you and well done!
Great food and service. Really attentive waitress and they gave us a special dessert for our anniversary. Recommended for special occasions - we had a great time.
Great location. Had the tomahawk steak. A bit chewy and pricey. Service not as good as expected for this calibre of restaurant. Meals are pretty no frills. I am spoilt by Canadian steakhouses and their service and standards. There is room for improvement.
We ordered the six course degustation menu with wines. Equal to the best we have enjoyed in Sydney. And we've been to the best Sydney has to offer. Offerings were plentiful, service excellent, made more than welcome. We'll be returning.
My wife and I are on honeymoon, and we decided to check this place out because they serve native Aussie meats and had good reviews. From beginning to end, the service was great. The food and drink came out pretty quickly. They accommodated our request for a smaller order of emu wonton. We also ordered the Australian game platter to share. The kangaroo and wallaby were very tender and had strong good flavor. The most underwhelming one was the crocodile, as it had very little flavor. I would recommend people check this place out if they haven’t had Australian meats yet.
Food and atmosphere was sensational, excellent service and presentation of dishes. Fantastic flavours using local produce. Highly recommend
I’ve read so many reviews about this restaurant. It’s near the harbour and has a great view. Servings are a good portion. But the soup is not served with bread. I’d say the staff were very professional & accomodating. Highly recommend!
Awesome food! Dishes with a good size and fair priced! High quality of food. Very good service! I'll definitely come back! Keep going that way guy's!
We really enjoy our night there. Food was really good and the plum foam dessert was excellent! Our waitress Natalia was very friendly and advise us right!
Whenever we come to Cairns we always dine at Ochre. Their food is always interesting, clever, but never pretentious and beautifully presented. An absolute FNQ gem.
Awesome food in a great setting with fabulous service
Had a really enjoyable and relaxing Saturday night. Thanks guys!
Our waiter was just fantastic! Set up a table outside for us given it was my bday! He was very flexible in tasting some wines before I ordered a bottle.
Food quality was good but was expecting more "bush food".
Food serving was generous. Proteins were all well cooked. However flavors of food were average
We had the lunch platter. The food was lovely, perfect portion for lunch. And great value with the wine and chips included. Will definitely recommend and visit again.
Amazing Amazing Amazing
Solid set menu. Nicely made and a satisfying meal. Very good without being great.
Nice food with view

Go native Ochre Restaurant has been wowing Cairns locals and tourists alike for more than 20 years with its fresh take on local produce that manages to showcase such tricky ingredients such as crocodile and wallaby with real flair. If you can, try to snaffle a table on the pavement to really get the full Cairns experience. Somehow the fresh seafood, native game and bush foods such as tempura Gulf bugs on lemongrass with a green papaya salad and sweet chilli lemon myrtle dipping sauce, or the salt and native pepper leaf crocodile and prawns taste even more authentic that way. If you’re game, leave it to the Chef and opt for the Taste of Australia Ochre platter, a four-course set menu. If you prefer a la carte, then make sure you leave room for the desserts, which, if you’re lucky, might be the wattle seed pavlova or the Davidson Plum Mousse.
