The staff was lovely, the food was very fresh and tasty, the view excellent and the staff knowledgeable about the wines and even brought a couple of reds for me to taste. A really lovely Hobart experience.

Marvelous flavors, atmosphere and people. My new favorite restaurant in Hobart.

We had the chefs tasting menu. Sadly we came away hungry. The food was so scant it was embarrassing to take a serve as there wasn't enough for 12 adults. Nothing for 2 children. Fantastic staff. Great handling of the booking. Dessert was absolutely beautiful. But the remaining menu was very ordinary. We went home and ate our fridge left overs. Bottle of bubbles very expensive.

A regular visit for us. Fine dining at an affordable cost. AAAAAAA!

Our third visit and the value for money has seriously deteriorated. We like to have a glass of sparkling at the bar beforehand. You used to have Lara Gully for $11 a glass now the Goaty Hill is $17. Will not be drinking there again. Entrees were good. Main course very poor value for money. Small piece of Hapuka and not much else for $38. Desert poor. Apple and berry crumble with only half-cooked apple. Wine prices expensive and two miserably small pieces of bread to start. Very disappointed after two great meals on our two previous visits.

I should state that both my wife and I are experienced amateur cooks and also eat out at fine restaurants frequently and globally. So, our background is experienced and diverse. This was the second time we had dined at Old Wharf this year. Our first experience, about 8 months ago, was excellent in every way. This time around we thought the food and the wine were ordinary at best. Firstly, the wine needs explaining. We ordered by the glass. No Cabernet Sauvignon was available (out of stock). So we tried two different shiraz. The taste was what you get when a bottle has been opened for several days. We didn't complain, it was our anniversary and we wanted to keep a good mood. Next, the food was really not that interesting or flavourful. It was all also just floating in butter. And, we know that butter makes most things taste better, but there is a limit beyond which foods gets almost disgustingly fatty. Our dishes were close to that limit. And folks, I don't normally complete surveys but I thought you should know in this instance. We have a lot of friends who also dine out quite a bit and we couldn't recommend Old Wharf at this time. We have in the past done so.

They need to increase choices on both food and wine menu. We had an early sitting (6pm) for 2 hours. Towards the end of the 2 hours we were presented with the bill. At a fine dining restaurant we believe they should have asked us first rather than what they did. This is our second time at this restaurant in 2 months and the service this time was efficient but not with the same care as last time.
