Fantastic location. We had waterside seats. Staff were all friendly. Happy hour very good value and wines/cocktails excellent. Food delicious even if not particularly Italian. Side dish of green veggies wax’s very worthwhile

Very impressed by the staff/service. Food was good- some dishes better than others......saltinbocca was a highlight! One criticism is to not use tin canned tomatoes!!!! Overall, will definitely come again!

Really Poor food. Overpriced. Charged 2 dollars for mayo with chips when we didn’t want ketchup!! Even harbour location couldn’t make up for rubbish meal. Staff were sweet though.

Friendly staff. Efficiently shown to our reserved table straight away. Very good cuisine. However, there was this one male staff who probably needs a bit more coaching in customer service. Before ordering, we wanted to confirm how the NZ line caught snapper was cooked — grilled? Fried? Battered? He didn’t know (he was probably new on the job & has poor menu knowledge) and said he will ask and get back to us. But he NEVER GOT BACK TO US !!! Now that is a waste of time and a waste of staff salary if that is how he treats customers. Either that, or let management check their standards: make sure that your wait staff have a good working knowledge of how to explain the menu items when asked., before they are deployed on the floor. We did see the “briefing” by a lady in black shorts, no apron - she was briefing the wait staff, before they were deployed on the floor to start taking orders. We had to wait for the proper wait staff “assigned” to our table, to get our answers. Kudos to her. Didn’t get her name, but she was petite & Asian looking & wearing glasses. Now SHE WAS VERY GOOD, friendly & patient. Overall you can just consider this a minor link in their customer service. Food was great.

Had a gr8 night, lovely view of Harbour by the warm heater. A few staff such as Assos was outstanding, while a pretty “backpacker lady” was not helpful ( she assumed what we JUST ordered 1 minute ago already cooked & could not be changed rather than checking w kitchen the way most trained staff wld do). Overall, food was lovely, especially stuffed battered zucchini flowers.

Booking with Dimmi excellent and good table reserved on busy Saturday evening. Service and attendance was good. Unfortunately, the food was a let-down on a special occasion - salmon was bland, snapper tasteless, daughter's linguini was dry and left half and worst was son's fish n chips which we tasted after he ate some to find fish partly uncooked and left stale horrible taste in mouth - truly dead. Olivos refunded the meal but seriously the chefs should not be serving this.

I dined here on a Saturday night with my family. Upon arrival, I explained that I had a booking and the staff member seemed confused and went to check. A different person came over and asked us "how many people" and I explained that I already had a booking. We got a seated at a table that was already reserved so I assumed that they found my booking. For starters, we had the garlic and herb bread which was a generous serving and flavourful. The pieces were cut quite thick but a sharp knife was provided if you wanted to cut it smaller. For the main, I had the osso bucco ravioli which was handmade pasta in a creamy jus sauce. I found the pasta well cooked and with ample filling. The serving size was quite large with about five pieces of ravioli. We also had the zucchini flavours which were well received as well as the chicken milanese. I enjoyed the food here however the service was a bit off. We didn't receive any table water and it seemed that we had multiple staff looking after our table and that there was some miscommunications between the team members. This place is good for a pre show meal if you're looking for something cheap and cheerful.

I have dined here previously and had a beautiful meal which is why we came back. Last night i was left really disappointed amd not wanting to come back and we wont. I requested a table inside on my reservation only to arrive and be told no sorry. Pretty much called me a liar and was forced to wait for a table inside when i had already requested one. The food was also just mediocre too. We wo t be back.

About the restaurant

An Italian all-rounder. Boasting beautiful waterfront views and an international mix of tourists and local diners, Olivo Harbourside is a great Italian restaurant on the busy boardwalk. Hungry tourists stop to browse the menu, while in-the-know regulars stroll in to grab their favourite harbourside table. Chef Glynn Pedlar aims to please with his extensive menu; there are burgers, handmade pastas, salads, fresh seafood, steaks and even kangaroo (much to travellers’ delight!). The beverage list is even longer, with a huge range of Australian and imported wines, beers, spirits and sparkling, as well as a list of classic and original cocktails. Any night of the week, there are regular specials and deals, as well as a handy early morning breakfast menu. As expected, it’s busy on nights with the Darling Harbour crowd, but it’s a great place to people-watch. A must for any tourist in town. Best dish: Angus rump steak.
