Our steaks were cooked perfectly and were very large meals. The pasta was good too however the pizza and flatbread bases were very generic they looked mass produced not homemade as you would expect at a restaurant that specialises is pizza and pasta.

Pasta dish was fabulous but had expected the pizza to be made on a handmade base not a store bought base. Very disappointed.

The service was disappointing. We actually put a timer on to determine whether we would order dessert- after having waited 15 minutes, we gave them another 10 and they blew it. They did give us a small discount to apologise, but we didn’t do it for a discount. The mushroom in blue cheese sauce was sensational, however.

I have been eating at Oscar's for about 20 years. I dine there at least 4 times a year as it is a convenient location to meet. However yesterday was a total let down. Van parked in the driveway - had to drive around to look for a park. After waiting to be served for about 15 minutes I eventually went to the bar to order a drink. We were placed near the juke box and asked to be moved (why do they have one?) Lunch was good, but never asked if we wanted another drink or any attention whatsoever. I caught the eye of the guy behind the bar & indicated the we would like coffee. He continued to unpack the dishwasher & dry the glasses. 10 minutes later we paid the bill & left without the coffee. Very disappointing

About Oscar's

Family favourite McLaren Vale is famous for many things; notably the wine of course. But if you lived in Adelaide for more than five minutes you would be also familiar with Oscar’s – a must-visit for any birthday celebration, quick drive through town, leisurely afternoon in the sun or hiding away in winter by their gorgeous open fire. Delightfully casual, yet with high-quality food and service, this popular Mediterranean eatery also caters for those wanting to have a night off cooking, with an excellent takeaway option. Their wine list is extensive, with more than your average number available by the glass and plenty of choice no matter your age or budget. Oscar’s is synonymous with smiling, easy service and a flexibility that is refreshing given the minefield of politics that inhabits some dining establishments. Nothing is too much trouble and they welcome even drop-in customers wanting a quick coffee and a delicious homemade pastry. Best Dish: Pizza or smoked Kessler Pork
