Meet the Chef

William Cowper joined Otto as an apprentice in 2005, studying at Ryde College’s fabled hospitality training centre where he worked under head chef James Kidman and learned the art of preparing food that is unashamedly simple. Continuing his love of the Mediterranean, Will moved to Ottoman Cuisine where he learned about spice and a different style of cooking. In 2008, Will returned to Otto and began to expand his role in the kitchen, being promoted through positions of increasing responsibility.

As usual Otto did not disappoint. From the moment we were greeted warmly at the door to the food presentation and course suggestions ( Oliver - you are always on song) and the added bonus of BYO for a ( long ) Saturday lunch - we had an amazing Birthday Lunch. Sadly had to leave after3 hours for another function.

Well informed and attentive staff, excellent food. Every course of the degustation was directly on point with well chosen matching wines. Highly recommend this for fine dining in Brisbane.

Good location with nice view of storey bridge.. good atmosphere and excellent service but let down by the food nothing amazing but solid. Think there are better options in Brisbane for better value

Service wasn't the best (had to wait a long time for drinks and my guest got his drink for free as the server forgot). Food was okay and nice interior but not sure i'll be back with customers due to the sub par service.

From the moment we arrived for a pre-dinner drink at Otto we were made to feel welcome and the constant but unobtrusive attention by the staff ensured that we were made to feel very special too. The food was delicious and explained expertly by our waiter. Although quite an expensive restaurant, it was worth every penny. My daughter, whose birthday we were celebrating, was surprised with a lovely little cupcake with candle. Otto is definitely the best choice for that special occasion.

Very disappointing. Heard this was the top Italian restaurant in Brisbane. I and three others had tagliotini with Moreton Bay bugs...., couldn’t find any bug meat !!!! For $45 a pop ... gotta be kidding. Staff certainly know their stuff re the food and wine but the reality didn’t live up to the description in a lot of things......everything is vastly overpriced and half of our table was disappointed with their meal ????

Overall good but not great. I probably would not return or recommend to friends as I think you can get a better meal elsewhere for less.

Expected a lot better. Below average service, actually no, there was no service. Food was just OK. Cleary they had an off day.

Excellent as usual. One suggestion if I may, is to place the bottles of water away from the dining table as the space is a bit limited on the table. We had a bottle of sparkling and still water and with all the glasses and share plates, it was a bit hectic. So maybe the bottles can be placed away from the table with the bottle of wine? But this is just a very small suggestion in what was sublime meal, with great service and the sommelier chose a great wine which was surprisingly affordable too. 10 out of 10.

We went here for dinner and were pretty disappointed. The dishes were okay, but definitely not worth the money we paid for them and fairly underwhelming. $360 for 2 courses for four people! The service was also a bit slow and lack lustre. The view is very nice though!

The food, as always, is superb and tantalising to the taste buds. The service, impeccable, as usual. This year, I would like to give OTTO extra love due to the fact that they actually allow babies. I’ve always gone to OTTO on dates however as I had baby this year I have been unable to go out fine dining much. OTTO was welcoming to our little one (many fine dining establishments are not welcoming of babies) and for that reason, I will be recommending OTTO to family, friends and colleagues in the future.

One of our favourite Italian restaurants. Simply bellissimo. Kids love it so us as parents love it too. Staff offered good old high quality service and very attentive (eg taking the liberty of plating a main pasta into two smaller plates so it is easier for the kids to share). Little thoughtful touches.

About the restaurant

Otto comes to Brisbane

The Fink Group have entered Queensland, and they've entered in style. The newly opened Otto Ristorante shares a similar DNA to its Sydney sister, boasting a beautiful southern Italian menu with slightly lighter dishes to reflect Brisbane's warmer climate.

This venue is versatile, and oscillates easily between breakfast, lunch and dinner, providing all kinds of options - from casual drinks to full blown degustation.

The menu is fresh, with plenty of seafood items and incredible pastas - highlights include baby barra with salsa verde and lemon and potato gnocchi with braised rabbit and gremolata.

Take a seat, order yourself a negroni, gaze out over Story Bridge and prepare yourself for a stunning feast.

Best dish: any of the seafood dishes.
