Richard Ptanik

Richard joined Otto in 2003, having worked with some of Europe’s great chefs in Berlin, Switzerland and his native Prague. He worked as James Kidman’s sous chef for five years, assuming the role of head chef in late 2009. His food style is unashamedly simple - modern Italian with roots firmly placed in the classics. For many it has come for many to signify the quintessential Sydney cuisine; fresh, seasonal, produce-driven, sourcing the finest ingredients and letting them speak for themselves.

The staff and therefore the service was impeccable. Very professional but warm. Not intrusive or hovering. The food was very good and the drinks fun. Lots of attention to detail.

Service was absolutely exceptional and the food was superb. We hadn't dined at Otto for a while and were pleased to return to this special restaurant - we will be back again soon! Thanks to the attentive staff and chefs that made our lunch such a memorable one.

I celebrated my birthday here with my husband - the service was very good, I just wish that when I jokingly mentioned the limoncello, that our waiter wasn't SO responsive with bringing us a glass each so fast! ;-)

We attended a wine series with Felton Road wines. i would highly recommend any of the Otto wine series dinners. The food and wines are always amazing.

had the 5 course pasta degustation. they were all nice except one dish... i dont know what it was. a pork ragu with udon? i wouldnt call it pasta but what... c'mon... i could make that at home myself. either way, the service and drinks were pleasant and i couldnt fault the other dishes.
