Meet the Chef

Richard joined Otto in 2003, having worked with some of Europe’s great chefs in Berlin, Switzerland and his native Prague. He worked as James Kidman’s sous chef for five years, assuming the role of head chef in late 2009. His food style is unashamedly simple - modern Italian with roots firmly placed in the classics. For many it has come for many to signify the quintessential Sydney cuisine; fresh, seasonal, produce-driven, sourcing the finest ingredients and letting them speak for themselves.

    Otto never disappoints. Such a great way to spend the afternoon and the service is exceptional. I have been going for years and always like to bring guests from interstate or overseas when they are in town. Thank you to Graham and the team.

    This is my husband’s and my favourite Italian restaurant. We have came here many times. The food is always great. But service can be a bit slow because they are busy.

    Always an awesome experience when I’ve been to Otto. Such a reliable establishment with a very impressive wine list to select from to enjoy with the 5 star menu .

    Fabulous location at Woolloomooloo and thankfully has a movable shade veranda to shield the sun when required. Food is delicious as are the drinks albeit pretty pricey (as expected and can’t be avoided at Woolloomooloo wharf). Lovely experience for a special time.

    Great food and lovely view. Although, the waiter serving us came across as a bit short/grumpy at times. Additionally, the receipt listed suggested gratuity amounts and the waiter made a point of referring to tipping. Not ideal. Nevertheless, we all had a great time and would eat there again.

    We had the spanner crab, scollops and beef carpaccio as entrees and the signature lobster spaghetti for main. Food was tasty; very good service and relaxing atmosphere. It was quite expensive but worth the quality, service and environment.

    Seafood pastas were really good. Waygu melted very nicely but the lamb rump was very chewy and disappointing. Service was great and nice birthday touch with a special dessert

    We went for an intimate birthday dinner and as always it was lovely. The outdoor setting is wonderful sitting beside the water watching the boats dock and people go by. They have shade in sun and gas lamps in winter. The food is delicious and presented well as is the service. We highly recommend it for all occasions.

    Service was gradual, graceful, and refined but never was offered the service names (without asking). All courses were deemed excellent by all. Wine pricing was elevated but overall an excellent experience - offering more personal engagement would have added points!

    We had a delicious dinner at Otto. Definitely recommend the pancetta wrapped veal, zucchini flowers, and morten bay big linguini. Service is always great and staff are friendly. There was a bit of a wait between dishes so the waiter gave us some lovely chocolates on the way out. We’ll be back.

    The food was delicious but staff should be more attentive. Instead of setting up the tables you shoud be focused on the guest (ask for the drinks, top up the wine and pay attention on details . Also some of their uniform was not clean. Overall good but wouldn’t rush back .
