My husband and I were looking for a quality wine bar to taste good portugal wines and bring a few bottles back to the house we are renting. Filipe was amazing and made us discover delicious wines, at reasonable prices and clearly off the beaten track. Look no further for the best wine bar in town and let Filipe be your guide with delicious pairing nibbles ! We will be back for sure !

Filipe gave us a great introduction to the fantastic wine and cheese of Portugal, making us feel right at home. He suggested wine and food to match our tastes and was always very attentive to our needs. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would highly recommend to all.

The location didn’t attract us at first but we decided to go anyway. The host is very kind and makes is very clear that this evening is about the wines, the food comes after. The wine was amazing, the food that the host recommended with the wine was amazing. Great night. The only bad thing for us were the chocolates and the madeira wine after, we did not ask for this and we weren’t sure if this was on the house. The price we paid (€60) showed us that we did pay for it. Also we have no idea what the €60 is based on, we did not get a receipt.

Even the restaurant accept credit cards you will be addressed to cash payments with strong moral suasion. Lastly the restaurant is in a large road with some traffic, so it is pretty noise.

This is a nice place with personal attention from the host. He talks to you and recommends a wine and then a side dish. Then he builds this up. I personally think this place is more for the wine then the food. But a nice atmosphere, to enjoy a summer night.

Enjoyed a good evening with a charismatic sommelier. Myself and my wife being lovers of wine but oblivious to knowledge of wine where a little daunted at first . We where treated 1st class service with wines chosen for us considering what we usually have . To summarise , great wines and cheeses meats , olives etc which all complimented each other which made a good value evening , with some knowledge which I'll take away from it.

Literally fantastic. Amazingly good wine shop with cheese, heaven! The owner was knowledgeable and offered fabulous wines.

Good wines, local cheese and charcuterie. However, expensive. For 2 glasses of white wine, plus 2 glasses of red wine, a large plate of cheese and meat, two servings of bread and oil, the cost was 62.50 euros. We had prebooked which should have given a 30% discount on the food but this did not happen. We only realised later after we recovered from the surprise of the bill. I suggest that you ask the cost of things before drinking.

It was an amazing evening. The service was very personal, from the first minutes we felt like we came to visit an old friend. Filipe makes a real effort to find wines that will please you, he gives you time to enjoy your evening but at the same time find the right moment to share his knowledge about wines with you. We are planning to return at least twice during our current visit to Madeira. I feel so happy that we met Filipe. Life is the sum of such precious moments.

We explored various Portuguese wines with the knowledgeable owner who answered all our questions. Excellent wine suggestions, the best cheeses we tasted so far - all from small local producers. Also, great Madeira wines from some less known brands. Recommend for wine aficionados - not a place for copious meals, rather a meditative bar to enjoy wine and local produce. We enjoyed a lot!
