Food was perfectly cooked and presented.
Great food and service, had lamb and market fish, very well cooked. Garnishes / sauces on meats were a touch mismatched and overpowering. Entrees of cured meat and kingfish sashimi were excellent
A little more attention providing continual water, clearing used glasses and less formality from our waiter would have been appreciated. I did appreciate it, however, when asked before the meal was consumed, 'how is your meal?' And it was very good. Lovely presentation and enough to eat (often a irritating problem in upmarket restaurants). I can recommend the French Souffle, which is twice cooked, and the Duck. The wine list was reasonably comprehensive and very pricey: more choice for wine by the glass would not be amiss.
Environment was great, service was really good and the food - Yummy! The duck was delicious and the weird cheesecake - Left wanting more. Not the easiest to order from because we had no idea what we were ordering but everything was great! Highly recommend giving it a go - well worth it!
We were early for our booking but felt rushed to order drinks and food. The Market fish was very small compared to the lamb. Staff disappeared at the end of the night which made it difficult to ask for the bill. Huge potential. Just need to alter a few small things and it will be a great recommendation from me.
A great atmosphere right from the moment you stepped in. A warm welcome with a lovely smile. Service was prompt and professional. We had 3 starters: ocean trout, Hiramasa king fish and a steak tartar, each of which was brilliant: great flavor and texture, accentuating each ingredient in a subtle way. The tartar was the best one I ever had. Mains were Blue eye and pork cutlet. Portion sizes were generous and each plate was constructed with carefully flavored items which supported the main ingredient well. Dessert options were a little let-down with the dairy based options only. Overall, this eatery offers the best package of well sourced local produces.

The only time I bother to write reviews is usually because it was a terrible experience but last nights dinner was so fantastic that it warrants writing about. Superb venue with convict hewn stone walls, exceptional wait staff, with strong knowledge of product and the right amount of engagement with diners without it being intrusive. Food spot on, very fresh fish & meat dishes perfectly cooked with the tastiest vegetable accompaniments I’ve ever tasted in a restaurant, usually something of an afterthought. Our small family birthday party transported us somewhere wonderful for a few hrs which is the ideal of what eating out should achieve.

Loved the restaurant ambiance, welcome and the delicious food. Only problem was the wait. It was just over an hour waiting for our food. Another thing was that the only Tasmanian wines were a fair bit more expensive than imports from Chile and South Africa which is sad.
Interesting space in the Old Henry James Art Hotel. Quite a small menu but we all found something. Tasty dishes. Expensive small sides. Ended a fine holiday in Hobart but not with a wow.
Absolutely superb! The duck dish was amazing, so glad we booked to dine here on our last evening in Tasmania. Highly recommend.
The restaurant is a very nice place and service was good. They knew in advance that one guest had dietary restrictions and almost got every dish perfect. One side dish came wrong and a new one came only when we had finish eating. The portions are small so it ends being an expensive dinner.
The food is great and the plating makes the food look even more delectable. Service could be better though - got made to wait rather long for payment
The duck was tough and full of sinew making it inedible. At least I wasn't asked to pay for it. There were virtually no desserts and one of the two cheeses was imported which was quite unnecessary in Tasmania where there are excellent cheeses.
We waited an hour and a half for our food after we ordered and couldn’t get a staff member to come check on us once. When we did receive our mains, the food was good, but portions were tiny. If the main was genuinely just two slivers of meat, I would have expected my server to tell me that and suggest extra sides. We left hungry and disgruntled.
Very welcoming, fantastic food and great service from a very knowledgeable team. Highly recommended to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxed and delicious meal
What a gem of a find. A beautiful restaurant with quality Tasmanian produce. We had a superb meal and were well taken care of by the great team.
