Great venue with amazing views and service. Food not as fantastic as I expected -serves on the small side and some dishes we ordered a bit bland.

A VERY SPECIAL OUTING WITH FIRST CLASS MEALS AND SERVICE. ONE SMALL OBSERVATION WAS THAT THE BUTTER FOR THE SOURDOUGH BREAD WAS VERY COLD AND HARD AND DIFFICULT TO SPREAD. if THE BUTTER HAD BEEN OUT OF THE FRIDGE BEFORE SERVING IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER TO SPREAD. IT IS JUST A SMALL THING BUT I'm SURE COSTOMERS WOULD APRICIATE IT. sincerely Jurgen

Quite cold inside. I was surprised that the vegetables purchased as extras to accompany our hot main courses were served cold. Overall the food was expensive . Steaks were good but not great. The bread was very nice .

Menu covered all the basics and Tapa’s is a novel idea for a larger party. Wine list features Penfolds wines as expected, but expensive ( $24 for a glass of Bin 407 ) The service was attentive and professional as befits such a restaurant. I found the restaurant decor to be very minimalistic, needing some greenery or artwork to provide some colour. A nice touch was the bottle of Bin407 given to us because of the work going on in the restaurant, THANK YOU. Overall an enjoyable experience.

We ordered 2 medium rare serves of the Mayura Station wagyu steak. One came out right, the other was over. Disappointed with the inconsistency given the status of the restaurant.

Thank you once again staff at Magill Estate Kitchen for a fabulous lunch! Superb food, incredible service, so friendly and welcoming. My favourite restaurant of choice every time I visit Adelaide.

Absolutely fantastic food. Loved every bit of it. Nice wine, too. The service was patchy, but they recovered well, which is a credit to them, but when you're paying big bucks for what is essentially a McDonald's environment with a nice view, it irks when your drinks don't arrive and the wait person doesn't alert you to the fact that one of the dishes you've ordered contains one of the things you've ordered as a separate dish. Our main gripe is with the atmosphere. It is a very large space with only hard surfaces: polished concrete floor, metal chairs and acres of glass to show off a pretty good view of the carpark and vineyards beyond. This space is populated by couples, groups small and large as well as families with small kids, some of whom are well controlled and others who are allowed to literally run around between the tables. Being a large space, there are a lot of people packed into it, and as tables are constantly turning over, there is a lot of action. There are also a lot of staff bustling around attending to all these people. Muzak playing was pretty average and too loud. All this adds up to a very cold, unrelating atmosphere. On top of this, despite it being a cold, wet, windy day, after the doors were finally closed (as someone had asked), the air conditioner was turned on cold and turned back on again 30 mins after someone asked for it to be turned off. The cynical part of me wonders whether this is to discourage people from lingering. The couple next to us arrived just before us in a chauffeur-driven car, I assume intending to have a long, relaxing afternoon together, but they drank a bottle of wine and wolfed down their food in just over an hour and were gone. We couldn't wait to get out either. A real shame. Seriously, the food was excellent, and on a good day, I'm sure the service is really top notch, but the atmosphere really lets it down despite the nice view. I don't mind paying big money for a great meal at all, but we won't be going back to MEK. There are just too many other places with environments more conducive to enjoying great food and wine. I'd rather give them my money. Maybe the main restaurant at Magill Estate?!

Portion is smaller than other fine dining venues. Tartare needs more flavouring or condiments.
