Meet the Chef

Philippe Mouchel was born in Normandy, and commenced his apprenticeship at the Hotel le Grand Cerf, at age 16. In 1991 Philippe and his family relocated to Australia where he opened the restaurant Paul Bocuse at Daimaru in Melbourne. In 2005 Philippe opened French restaurant, The Brasserie by Philippe Mouchel, at Crown and then in 2010 he opened P M 24, which closed in 2014. ‘Philippe’ opened in June 2016 and showcases traditional yet innovative French cooking.

    I’ve been looking forward to fare at this restaurant for a long time now, and took the opportunity for my birthday. The food was delicious! The duck was oh, so, good and simply the best duck I’ve had in Melbourne. Great job Philippe!

    A very nice French restaurant in the CBD. We enjoyed a great lunch where food was top quality and staff were friendly and the there's a very nice ambience about the place. This is our new favourite French restaurant

    All the dishes we had, especially the chicken rotisserie, were exceptional. Good ingredients done really well, accompanied by sauce/condiments/sides that made the dishes whole. Would definitely return and recommend to others!

    Entree of heirloom tomatoes sublime, the main was a new dish , gnocchi..also delish, nothing to fault, one of my favourite dining venues in the Cbd, consistently good.

    Casual atmosphere, buzzing vibes. Fish was beautiful with perfectly cooked risotto. My partner’s steak was juicy and done medium just as she ordered. Chips were amazing but needed sauce to go with it. Overall a great meal but quite pricy

    We were quickly shown to our table and the food was delicious. The dishes were brought out at an unhurried pace and we enjoyed them thoroughly. The stars of the night were definitely the rump cap, which was cooked medium rare with Bernaise sauce, and the grilled brocolini.

    So glad we came here for a work event - enjoyed it so much that I returned 2 weeks later for another celebration. Thanks for all that jazz too! Fantastic ambience, food and service. Highly recommend the porterhouse. Highly recommend this for a date night.

    Love the tiny Xmas tree on the table. Sofa seats were comfortable. The snapper fish with clams was perfectly cooked with tasty sauce & asparagus. It’s the sauce that keeps us going back!
