Nice food and typical warming Italian service but the pasta portions have definitely decreased since last time I dined there and the tiramisu was lacking something

What a wonderful dining experience. A family affair and great dining atmosphere. Magnificent hustle and bustle, with authentic Sicilian styled Italian cuisine.

Great restaurant, food and service. 6 people in our party and everyone's food was very good. Staff were attentive without being in your face. I would recommend if you are looking for a good Italian restaurant whilst in Melbourne.

Nice Italian restaurant great atmosphere - best piece of fish I’ve had during my holiday in Australia. Only downside was they added a 15% Christmas Day surcharge to the bill without mentioning this before we had our meal

Piccolo Mondo was a great experience on Christmas day. The food was fantastic! A joy for the tastebuds. Really nice to sit outside and the service was good. I would like to go again and again and try everything. This is my favourite Italian restaurant I have been to in my life.

Great selections of seafood and pasta. The atmosphere is really great, especially outside and the second floor near the balcony. I ordered mussels, bbq calamari and fettuccine pattone. The mussels are cooked at the perfect state except the sauce is a bit salty. Pasta and calamari are great. Enjoy them.

Great friendly service. You are not rushed in and out. Plenty of room around tables and not noisy so great for catching up with family and friends. Food is very good and good variety. Wine list is small but well selected and well priced.

Ate here at an evening. Food was ok nothing special. Service was slow. Not sure if we got them on an off night given all the positive reviews but certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

About the restaurant

If you’re on Lygon Street in Melbourne, it’s hard to imagine you’re looking for sushi or poke bowls. You want satisfying, rich and decadently carb-loaded Italian food. Piccolo Mondo may mean ‘small world’ but the welcoming, Italian hospitality is BIG… and so are the servings of pasta!

Sink your teeth into a succulent veal scaloppine, all manner of seafood and be prepared to deliberate over the sweets menu – it’s a tough choice. Offering a true European experience with Alfresco and even footpath dining, it’s no surprise that in a street filled with Italian eateries, this is one that the foodies love.
