Bought the $40 main Surf and Turf. Sauce was fantastic, as was the seafood, but the cut of meat was of poor quality and unevenly cooked. For such a relatively expensive main I expected better.

Last minute decision to drive out to Pier 01 about an hour from home. Appreciated that it was possible to book a table online and arrived to find table by window as requested. Wine list was good, great to see lots of local wines, ciders, beers to accompany the locally sourced food promoted. Menu offered a reasonable choice range. My partner ordered the Waggu Whiskey beef burger while I ordered fish of the day. Fish was lovely light and crisp batter and side salad was fresh and decent. Thick cut salted chips a treat. The Waggu burger looked amazing, the filling was spot on great flavours and quality ingredients. Sadly the bun let it down it was really dense and tough. The fair haired waitress was delightful, friendly and professional. We provided feedback to her regarding the bun which she took back to the kitchen with our coffee order. Ideally it would have been nice to have had our concern acknowledged perhaps with offer of complementary coffee to compensate as a gesture of goodwill but this was not the case. Still, our overall experience was pleasant, the venue and position great and worth a return visit at some stage.

The booking process was simple and effective. The welcome was so personal, the service was really good, the menu was diverse and reflected local produce, the meals were amazing - plentiful, well presented and well cooked and the deserts were WOW. This is Ulverstone in Tasmania - it felt like Melbourne or Sydney with just a better view.
