Meet the Chef
Giovanni was always destined to cook. Born in Sardinia, he arrived in Australia in 1992, aged 20, full of enthusiasm and passion for the unique flavours of his homeland.
At Pilu at Freshwater, Giovanni uses authentic products imported from across Italy, together with fresh local produce, presenting a menu that is refined and innovative whilst maintaining the strict traditions of the cuisine of his island home.

Melbourne Cup At Pilu
Enjoy the thrill of the race on the big screen, prizes for best dressed ladies and gents along with sweepstakes on the day. Assaggini and a 3 course menu $105 per person.
We request that you provide credit card details as a guarantee for your booking. If you fail to show up, or cancel your reservation without sufficient notice (at least 48 hours before the reservation time), the restaurant will charge a $105 per person no show fee.
Christmas Lunch 2019
Join us to celebrate Christmas and enjoy a delicious lunch of assaggino plus 4 courses and petit fours. $265 per adult.
Children's menu available, $80 per child under 12 years of age.
Seating times available at 11.30am or 11.45am until 2.00pm OR at 2.30pm or 2.45pm until 5.00pm.
Credit card details are required to secure the reservation. 50% of the payment will be charged two weeks prior. The payment will become non-refundable if you fail to show up or cancel within two weeks of the reservation.

Pilu offers the best of both worlds: vibrant, thrilling, sunshiny flavours from chef Giovanni Pilu’s Sardinian homeland, combined with some irresistible Sydney sand and surf. This award winning Italian restaurant set on Freshwater Beach is a sight for sore eyes. Walk up the stairs of the grand weatherboard beauty and you’ll feel like you’re visiting your friend's beach house for dinner. Sit down in the window seat with point blank views of the beautiful beach with some crumbed smoked eel balls with baby mussels and you’ll quickly remember that you’re in the very capable hands of Pilu himself, with his years of expertise and modern flair making its way into each and every dish. Pilu has character and charm but oozes warmth and comfort. The desserts are almost as breathtaking as the views so do yourself and favour and order the corbezzolo honey mousse, spiced sponge, roasted macadamias and a Sardinian beer sorbet. It will be true icing on the cake after a memorable meal and superb service.
