This is not a place to go if you want to have a conversation with your mates/dinner date. This is the place for shenanigans and The Craic. It's loud and jovial with great live music, cold beers flowing and the best Irish fair in Sydney (alongside great traditional pub grub).

It was super busy but the staff still managed to make us feel welcome and looked after and orders arrived at speed.

The steak my partner ordered was perfectly medium rare and the fries and sauce were yummy. I had the Shepherd's pie with Guinness, the friday special and it was yummy too!!

I found it a bit dark and couldn't read the menu. I had to use my mobile phone light to see it. I must be getting old.

The bbq schnitzel wrap was very bland and didnt have much chicken. I would not recommend this meal or get it again. The beef pie was a crowd favourite.

Vibrant Irish Pub, went for family dinner upstairs. Service was good as was food and drinks. Only downer is the noise. Trying to talk over dinner was a challenge. If I was there having a drink with friends etc great atmosphere. Just a bit noisy if you want to enjoy a conversation over dinner. Not the end of the world :)

I booked for Easter Sunday dinner and was not made aware that normal table service wasn’t going to be available. Ordered starter and main, both of which were brought to the table at the same time which was ridiculous. When I pointed out that I wanted to have my starter before my dinner the waitress said oh sorry and left the food there anyway. The food was nice so it’s a shame the service was so bad.

About P.J O'Brien's Sydney

What's the 'craic'? Set in the heart of Sydney, this classic Irish boozer offers the taste of Ireland in the CBD. The warm glow of the open fire and the traditional Irish music echoing transports you and that’s before you’ve even had your first pint of Guinness! As daylight fades the ‘craic’ begins, order up a pint and get yourself a serve of P.J’s signature seafood chowder, finished traditionally with cream and warm Irish soda bread. Get to this glorious local aye! Best dish: Shay’s Irish pork sausages served with creamy mash, caramelised onion and gravy.
