About polepole bar & kitchen

It’s time for an African safari Before we begin, let’s make sure we get the pronunciation correct. Polepole is pronounced pole-eh-pole-eh. Inspired by the their travels through Africa owners Dean and Jeanelle Mariani decided to bring a bit of the Sahara to Melbourne - well, the food and booze anyway - not the animals and the sand. Sorry animal lovers. The venue features understated coal, untreated wood, burnt-orange motif, a single golden acacia tree painted on the wall and Zebra like patterns on another. The theme flows through to the menu where you’ll find dishes like lamb and Ras El hanout cigars with fresh herbs, pomegranate molasses and mint salt ash or goat curry topped with yogurt and a side of flatbread. On the second level you’ll find the glamp cocktail bar, perfect for kick ons post meal. The drinks menu is immense, with unique curated cocktails and African beers aplenty. Here you are really spoiled for choice, in each and every way. Swahili for ‘go slowly’ this is certainly one place where you can slow down, relax and just enjoy the East-African journey. Best dish: sticky pork ribs in smoky BBQ sauce, with achard
